Can anyone help me, anyone who is very familiar personally with the gym since 1980 ish... There is a fighter , his name escapes me.. He was a pro who trained there since the eighties not a world beater, but a moody guy , he always was reknowned for training alone and was avoided by most everyone due to his atitude.. He trained alongside Duane Thomas, Thomas Hearns, Milton Mcrory , but never much spent the time of day with anyone for one reason or another.. I remember Ring Magazine did an article a while agoo and he was the odd one out in a gym full of ATG's.. He had skills but modest ones.. I dunno if he had a drug hstory or a Jail / troubled past but i am just curious if anyone remembers.. Its a longshot.. I knew him for a short time... I just shooting into space.. God bless... Any help is good help..
I'll throw some names out and maybe it'll come to you. Darrell Chambers Hurley Snead Jimmy Paul Dujan Johnson Jackie Beard Anthony Jones Ricky Womack Caveman Lee

Does anyone remember a young heavyweight who trained at Kronk that got car jacked around the early 90's and was shot dead...? I think he was an amateur just about to turn pro..
Amateur Boxer Shot in Detroit. Published: April 28, 1993 The police were seeking suspects today in the shooting death of one of the nation's leading amateur boxers in an apparent botched carjacking. Mark Rayner, 23 years old, who won the National Golden Gloves heavyweight title in 1992, was shot late Sunday near a gas station on the city's northeast side. A Detroit police officer, Allene Ray, said no arrests had been made today. That is the heavyweight i was thinking of , google found it for me.. that was a terible shooting mistake , Mark was an awesome prospect..
Bernard Mays.. he died from alcoholic poisoning in the 90's .. he was a sad story , very nice fighter, left his best days in a bottle..
I think I know who you mean, but his name escapes me as well. Fought at welter/jnr. middle, kind of a light-skinned black guy?
The lighter weight fighter you're referring to may have been Alvin Hayes. Real skinny lightweight, went on a little tear before getting stopped in six by Jimmy Paul. Not sure if he was from Kronk then, but I think he may have been there after he got out of jail, came back as a welter.
