6/11 in Nowy Sącz the comeback of Włodarczyk continues. Second fight this year for the former two-time world champion and is aiming for his 60th win in his career. His opponent is 38 year old Argentinian club fighter Maximiliano Gomez who is riding on a 11th fight win streak, although against an abysmal set of opponents. Wlodacrzyk should win this unless he is totally shot. Wloda's last fight. This content is protected
I'm very disappointed, this is an embarassing choice of opponent even for a washed, 40-year old Wlodarczyk in need of a tune-up. They could've at least gotten him a recognisable journeyman or an unbeaten no-hoper. In any case, Krzysztof is looking to cash out next year - one last big purse before he hangs 'em up. Szpilka and Rozanski would guarantee a lot of domestic interest, challenging for the EBU title might be an option - I don't think one last world title opportunity is possible. Regardless, Wlodarczyk has had an excellent career, the highlights being knocking out Green in Australia and Chakhiev in Russia. He ranks third or fourth on the list of ATG Polish professionals, depending on what you think of Golota and Michalczewski.
...yeah, El Cuervo is the very definition of a hard-scrabble Argie who can eke out success on the domestic scene, but never internationally. Type specimen. Let's go Diablo!!
Diablo dropped his man in the fourth and the Argie didn't come out for the fifth. Looks like a broken hand for Wlodarczyk so another long lay-off.
Since Hernandez's comeback is already off the rails anyway, they ought to both take a gamble in fighting each other.
I wouldn't mind that fight, but no. Hernandez is (was) at heavyweight, and the fight wouldn't be marketable without any belts on the line. Besides, the Cuban might not fight again and probably shouldn't. Diablo is far less shopworn and would win by violent KO.
