Maldonado winning a round against the ex champ will probably be the high moment of his boxing career.

 

Going the distance against Rivas, Takam and Wlod(unless something happens in the next 2 rounds) aint too shabby for a washed up "MMA" guy.

Round 7 - Maldonado was rocked anytime he was hit in the temple and Wlodarczyk put him down twice with head shots. Maldonado rose both times but the ref waived the fight off after the second 8 count.

 

Wlodarczyk, he former cruiserweight kingpin, was in great shape but looked quite slow. If he doesn't stop fighting I hope he sticks with these kind of bouts.

 

That guy won't quit unless you literally take him out of there or the ref/corner saves him from himself. Dude has taken some hellacious beatings in both boxing and MMA.

 

I did not know he was an MMA guy. Very tough dude.

 

Good to see Wlod get the win. I know this fight was just shyly north of the cruiserweight limit and basically heavyweight, so technically this would open the possibility for a fight with Marco Huck. I'm not sure whether Huck still wants to fight anymore, since his last fight was 3 years ago. But as it stands, a Huck-Wlodarczyk fight still holds merit in my mind.

2012 Sherdog beatdown of the year. He hung in there though until the doctor stopped the fight, and even briefly stunned Teixeira.

I think a decent chance against this current version of Makabu. Kudryashov would be a good fight as well if he's still around.

Wow, he is one tough SOB. Some of that was a bit tough to watch. I am not much of an MMA guy. Would other referees have stopped the fight sooner?

 

For sure. Mario "if he dies he dies" Yamasaki has a bad reputation for letting fights go on for far too long.
