Round 4

Jonak jabs and up-hooks at Starikov coming forward. Starikov is a bit desperate with his offense, resorting to slapping like a cat while backpedaling. Starikov pays for his bad footwork momentarily, slipping down on his butt as he slides his lead foot out too far while throwing a punch. He gets up and goes back to work, hitting Starikov with strong jabs on the forward step and some right hands behind them. Starikov is trying to be slick on the outside, hands low and shoulders shimmying. Jonak doubles his jab as he takes large lunging steps toward him. Bad feet, good hands. There are a couple of awkward clinches as Jonak has his head turned down and the back of his neck pressed into Starikov's chest. The ref is quick to split them up. Jonak outboxing Starikov despite having the less educated set of wheels.

Round 5

Starikov down at the beginning of the round. Jonak is getting eager. Jonak comes forward, hooking down at the beltline of Starikov. The Russian nearly goes down to a knee and grabs Jonak around the waist to keep himself up. It isn't ruled a KD. Jonak double jabs and lands a right to the body. Jonak falls off balance into the ropes while chasing Starikov. They exchange wild punches and miss (with their fists anyway) - arms clanging against heads. Jonak settles down and starts jabbing straight at Starikov from mid-range but gets grabbed. Starikov keeps grabbing Jonak and pushing his head down. Referee yelling at him. Starikov evades for the final stretch.

Round 6

Jonak again does an unintentional split and hits the canvas thanks to his wide stance. There is a lot of stalling before they call time in. Jonak comes forward and digs body shots now, and lands a hook to the face. Starikov is still using a lot of upper and lower body movement while drawing Jonak in but is getting hit more than in previous rounds. Starikov grabs Jonak's arms while he's throwing a punch and wrestles him away. Starikov blocks a combo, then drops his arms and stands in front of Jonak. Starikov circles out. Jonak thrusts his lead foot forward and jabs but falls short. Starikov is dancing around and jabs Jonak in the face.

Tough round to score there...just because Jonak looked so uncoordinated and foolish for much of it, neither very effective offensively. The body shots of Jonak early while coming forward might just make the difference.

Round 7

Jonak is jabbing and hooking, coming forward very slowly and looking frustrated. Starikov looks quite comfortable, blocking and jabbing on his back-step. Overhand right from Starikov falls like a wet blanket over Jonak's back. Jonak trying to duck forward and dodge side to side as he comes in, and takes a hook to either side of the head. Jonak punches his way in, and they come together in a hard clinch that may have included a head clash. Hard 1-2 to the body by Starikov. Low jab by Jonak. Double jab from Jonak, and Starikov just steps back into the ropes to avoid it. Starikov lands a nice combo to the chin while stepping around Jonak. The action is all being initiated by Jonak but he isn't landing and Starikov is.
