He sparred Guillermo Jones and he looked like a kid next to him. Kovalev never fought at CW.

Looked like Fragomeni purposely took a knee late in that 4th round after eating that left from Wlodarczyk while in a clinch, maybe he was hoping for a point deduction or something? Easy round for Wlodarczyk either way.

Let's be honest too, all the top Cruiserweight's- Huck, Hernandez, Diablo, etc- are all entirely beatable.

    Round 4

Wlodarczyk is plodding in circles around Fragomeni and jabbing down at him from outside, controlling distance and pace. Fragomeni plods in straight lines into Wlodarczyk, hooking the body and then holding when his momentum brings him all the way inside. Hook on the jaw by Wlodarczyk, and Fragomeni turns into his embrace. Fragomeni is spun completely around, back to Wlodarczyk, and he eats another left hook from behind and goes down!

    10-8 Wlodarczyk

    40-35 Wlodarczyk

Have you seen Kovalev spar Guillermo Jones?

I REALLY doubt his power would be nearly as effective against real CW's. The spotty defense would be a big problem too.

    Round 5

Wlodarczyk is shredding the face of Fragomeni with the jab, literally. Fragomeni has a deep gash two inches below his left eye, right on the cheekbone. Wlodarczyk is whipping uppercuts into the body as Fragomeni keeps stepping to him, pushing his inclined jab up and getting hung up on Wlodarczyk's arms or brushing his chest.

    10-9 Wlodarczyk

    50-44 Wlodarczyk

Jones started his career at Welterweight and moved up to Cruiserweight and is one of the top ranked guys. Are you suggesting that Kovalev couldn't move up just one division and do it?

Yeah, I saw that session and was actually very impressed by Kovalev's work. :conf

You're concerned about his power carrying up because he never severely rocked or dropped El Felino (never stopped for sixteen years, moving up five weight classes...) with headgear on? :huh

He fought at 201 a bunch of times as an amateur.

But the size difference is huge. And Jones (who is very slow) was catching him. Any top CW would simply wear Kovalev down & KO/TKO him due to the physical advantages they'd hold over him.

20 lbs is a lot of weight.

This was a ludicrous rematch. How did Fragomeni earn this? By going 1-0-1 with Branco? That is all the guy has done of any note since the last time he lost to Wlodarczyk...clearly.
