    Round 6

Wlodarczyk is jabbing and scoring at will on Fragomeni, who is now in complete zombie mode. Wlodarczyk is jabbing the cut, hooking the body, keeping away from the few up-jabs from the guard put out by Fragomeni, and managing to outmaneuver him with slow but sure footwork.

    10-9 Wlodarczyk

    60-53 Wlodarczyk

To be fair he was a gigantic Welter. He's only slightly smaller as me, and I would look like a skeleton at WW.
Never believe he made that weight in a completely fair way

No, I'm concerned with his power carrying over because he'd be going into the ring against people who don't have to dehydrate themselves to make weight and naturally weigh 200lbs with 12% body fat...

Do you comprehend how much advantages in strenght/durability/power come with 25lbs of muscle?

I simply used the Jones sparring to illustrate how tiny Kovalev looked against a big CW.

Shame on the WBC for sanctioning this. I know Fragomeni was their Silver champ as of the Branco rematch, but come on. This was ridiculous.

This rivalry was settled in May of 2010. Fragomeni should have retired then. It's December of 2013. WTF.

I wouldn't mind seeing Wlod defend next against Drozd or Mchunu- if a unification bout with one of the other champs (Hernandez, Huck and Lebedev) can't be made.

I'm confused, the ring announcer called it as a TKO at 0:01 of the 7th round. But surely that should have gone as a RTD6? Surprising, since Fragomeni didn't look to be in trouble during the 6th round. But I agree with IB, I am gobsmacked how Fragomeni got this mandatory shot in the first place, he must have been sitting on it since his split decision win vs Branco in December 2012, unless winning a decision vs 8-11-1 Toni Visic was what did the trick. Pathetic regardless, no need for this trilogy fight, and a waste of time for Wlodarczyk, who needs to be taking fights vs much better opponents.

I said it on another thread, cruiserweight should be one of the very most exciting divisions in boxing. However, the division as a whole is being held back from its potential for various reasons, one of which is that all the top fighters in the division have been stuck in a series of rematches with lower-tier opponents, such as Wlodarczyk with Palacios and Fragomeni.

I fought at cruiser, if a guy has power, he has power. It doesn't really matter what you weight, the punches hurt the same. Even guys that weigh 160 can hurt a cruiser.

Well Chakhkiev is number 2 WBC so there might be another rematch next

Although in fairness the first fight was good and wouldn't mind seeing it again.

Ditto for Fanfara's fight. Who was he fighting again?

He's a CW only in the loosest sense of the word

If not for the diuretics, Guillermo's a full-blown heavyweight.

I'll say this much: it isn't Kovalev's power that knocks out his opponents. It's his punching effectiveness that knocks out his opponents. As long as his timing and accuracy is good enough to land a right hand perfectly on his opponent's temple etc. he's going to KO them. He will carry his KO punch up to cruiserweight. SK is probably a real threat to any cruiserweight champ at the moment, if he so chooses to fight in that division but the dinero is probably better at LHW anyway.
