I agree. They won't have a clue who Saunders is and most in attendance will probably be too busy uploading to Insta to watch his fight. And why would they? They're being led to believe a couple of YouTubers are now professional boxers, so where's the point of difference?

If anything the ease in which they got their licence demeans the years of hard work put in by genuine pro fighters. As you say, very little chance this will grow the sport.

I have no issue with these dudes fighting for money and subscribers but it should have stayed as glorified white collar. Because that's what it is...

 

I kind of consider this selling out.kind of upset with Briggs, I haven't seen the conference but man this fight is corny

Currently 6mins in and it's like a bloody pantomime.
You've got Michael Buffer, thicc Eddie, Shannon Briggs, KSI, Logan Paul and his weird(er) brother, all getting involved.
Haven't even hit 7mins in and we're already at the U-S-A chants.
There are positives in this for boxing but my God it's cringey.

I don't care personally, if kids want to pay to watch these 2 morons, go crazy, sell some PPV's, make some money. But, I do agree, boxing gets absolutely nothing from this, other than laughed at.

Really. So as a young kid when and how did you watch your first boxing fight. Mine was when I was six and I saw prince Nadeem fight. Been hooked ever since and bought a lot of PPV in my time. None of my family were into it.

If 10 million people are watching that fight and 5% go on to watch boxing permanently and buy PPV because BJS or Haney entertained them. They end up buying PPVs and that money gets reinvested into making big fights we want to see. Surely that is a good thing for boxing.

 

I dont understand the hate. Underneath all the rubbish in the press conference its two guys training full time for a fight.

If you are a 'hardcore' boxing fan, boxing should interest you at all levels and i find it interesting to see the progress these two guys can make.
No one can sit there and tell me the last fight was not entertaining. It might not be technical but its not selling itself to be.
