how can you forget the words to a song you are performing? especially if it the national anthem. as for the butterbean fight what a display of skill!
The national anthem guffs happen more frequently then people think. It's not that these people come to the arena not knowing how to sing the anthem, they actually forget the words because they're nervous. Also, people in general these days do not memorize anthems, from when they're young kids which contributes to this problem of forgetting under pressure.Many people have only a general grasp of the anthem (i.e., they hear it often but they don't learn it by heart) so they get many words and notes wrong.
