Ruddock would probably get a tko mid rounds after looking like Gumby a minute and a half earlier, if that makes sense.

I was very impressed with the heart of Pulev and he rocked Vlad with the 1st Jab/upper-hook he threw and forced Vlad to clinch and then go for it. That hook would have dropped anyone and not sure many would have gotten up. Rudduck had a excellent hook but he also was not as defensibly sound as Vlad so it would be a horse of a different color had Pulev fought Rudduck.

I still dont know how good Pulev is but I am sure he has a solid set of whiskers and good recovery. Rudduck looked very good over a shot Dokes but many of his fights were losses, Lewis,Tyson,Morrison......Big difference having Rudduck in front of you instead of a 65 fight 6"6 245lb Vlad

Dokes was still better than just about anybody Pulev has thus far beaten.

Many of his fights? He retired with a record of 38-5-1-29 with most of those fought in his 20's. Pulev is nearly 34 years old and how many fights does he even have? 20? Of the men Ruddock lost to only two of them beat him in his prime and both of those guys are legit top 10 all time. Of the ones you listed, Morrison, Tyson and Lewis, how many of those do you think Pulev would beat? And let's not forget that the " 65 fight Wlad" is also 38 years old.

 

Ruddock doesn't have near the jab Wlad does. Pulev isn't a bad defensive fighter; he got caught between a rock and a hard place because Wlad simply had too much offensive variety at range. Focusing on taking the jab away exposed him to the hook and straight right.

Ruddock doesn't have the offensive variety Wlad does, so I think it's a big assumption to assume he'd have the same ease of breaking down Pulev's defense.

Pulev's own lack of pop doesn't help him here, although his jab is an asset.

I could see either man winning. It seems as though too many are selling low on Pulev and cherry picking their memories of Ruddock. This is a good fight.

 

I guess we have different requirements from a fight.

 

Ruddock would out box Pulev before turning him over for the count. Pulev does nothing better than Ruddock and i mean nothing.

This guy Pulev is only a jab. Ruddock was a better mover than Pulev is a jabber.

Pulev stands in one spot and has no awareness to whats going on around him. He doesn't think. He has no defence or upper body movement at all. He's slow as a wet week.
He stood right in Wlads range for the full 5 rounds. Even after the clinch , he did not try to re position himself. Just stood in the same place, casually , like he was at a bar. Thats what lead to his brutal KO.

Still , Wlad couldn't outbox him since he hadn't the skills and he absolutely could not put his chin on the line. Even if it was against a pillow fuff puncher.

Ruddock would be an ATG if he was around today. There isn't a man around today who is remotely close to the levels of Tyson , Lewis and Morrison.

 

I think you're into damage limitation after predicting a stern test for Wlad and a great fight. Here's the fight ,where in the first round is Wlad rocked? Wlad holds for dear life even when he's winning.**** fight which , against a non puncher ,facing an opponent he couldn't miss Wlad should have finished inside of 3 rounds , but he didn't have the ***** to go for it.

Thompson didn't look like a sumo but he did get soft around the midsection and swell up in weight for Pulev. He was coming off a pair of upset knockouts over Price at least.

Dokes really had not done anything since the brutal Holyfield fight and loss 12 months prior, well except lots of drugs and cheeseburgers.

In the ring, Thompson looked far more game for Pulev. Dokes was a fat punching bag.

And I think the Ustniov stoppage will go down as a solid win.

Dokes was probably using again and not in top form. But the Holyfield battle is one of heavyweight history's best remembered fights. Dokes also remained active in the 13 months going into the Ruddock bout - fighting 4 times and winning them all by stoppage. At 31 years of age and at 240 lbs he wasn't much worse off than Thompson at age 42 and 266 if even at all. Ruddock made Dokes look diminished. Pulev made Thompson look rejuvinated.
