No one is arguing a concussion isn’t a concussion. The argument is damage to the brain is worst the older you get.

 

Not really, not in this age range. The only difference is that it takes older people longer to recover, thats it.

 

The brain starts shrinking in your 40s. Add that he is taking punches to the head for decades, where the average person hasn’t. Once the brain has that extra movement it will always have that extra space to rattle.

 

Accumulation is a different story, I was more so focusing on the specific instance.

At the end of the day, a concussion is a concussion, age doesn't really change this. Older people can suffer more severe concussions, yes, and it typically takes them longer to recover from concussions. However, if Pulev´s brain was relatively healthy then this KO loss was not more damaging to him than it would have been if he were younger.

The shut-out against Usyk messed with Gassiev's mind. Took him a long time to return and he didn't seem to be the same. Maybe the Dorticos fight took years off his boxing life.
