Who knows? There have been great wrestlers who couldn't cut it and lesser ones like Hughes who became atg fighters. He definitely had the ideal base for fighting, but beyond that its just conjecture.
I think he had the potential to be an absolute beast. The guy is a ****ing animal when it comes to commitment and training for things.
Im sure Kurt would have done well if he had started early enough. Watch the guy even know hes just so explosive and fast in his shoots. The guy works very hard and is just so athletically gifted I think he would contended for Championships. Id still even now like to see him give MMA a shot for a fight or 2.
There was talk of him fighting Daniel Puder in MMA and Lesnar in K1 ages ago, both would have been very interesting fights. I hope he doesn't now, his body is already shot to pieces.
You have to think he would have been at least decent. He was a very good wrestler. I think he owuld have done well.
I read Angle's autobiography years ago. He was very detailed about his WWF career up to that point and he mentioned nothing about shoot matches but they may have occured. He did challenge Brock Lesnar to an olympic style match in front of the other wrestlers and Brock refused saying he didn't have the right footwear just his fancy leather boots on. Angle countered; let's fight barefoot then and show these boys some real olympic amateur wrestling moves but again Lesnar backed down from the challenge. What i most remember is after refusing Angles challenges he was heard to be boasting to another wrestler how he didn't want to fight Kurt for real as he, Brock, was so much bigger. Always thought Brock lacked a little class but got to admit he is doing very well in the UFC. Kurt IMO would have been a beast, very determined and explosive wrestler and always trying to learn new things.
http://www.flowrestling.org/videos/...k-kerr-1995-world-team-trials-philadelphia-pa not the same sport as MMA but a wrestling match with Mark Kerr...
i reckon he would have done very well. its all subjectiverr though. he could have been a lame striker with a **** chin, who knows?
He would have been one of the best athletes to enter MMA. But I think he already had previous injuries from amateur wrestling, he had neck problems.
he would definitely have had the potential to become great in MMA. but it would still mostly depend if he could also develop his striking, bjj, etc.
