This is for the WBF African lightweight title, 1st defense of Rajuili.

(he claimed the inaugural belt in March with a close MD over Segu)

    Round 1

Rajuili is circling to his left, twitching his upper body to either side to slip the Segu reach-in jab, and knifing out a double jab to his challenger's face and/or chest. Rajuili is countering, letting Segu dictate the pace, but answering with 2-3 quicker (and straighter) punches for every blow of Segu's. Rajuili is ducking away from a series of long overhand rights slung over the shoulder by Segu. Rajuili able to just barely avoid them in a wide-legged crouch, leaning his upper body outside, then boomeranging in to hold. Segu lands a couple of jabs and chops at Rajuili's neckw ith his right. They battle inside and Rajuili skips a few croupier stick right hands over the guard, landing well.

    10-9 Rajuili, but very competitive

The commentators shedding a little background context on the fight: Rajuili is seen as the more skilled technically (which sure appears to check out) while Segu is considered a nightmare for anyone in the division based on his physicality alone, if only he could find a good coach to sharpen up his fundamentals. They say he rehydrates to somewhere in the mid 150's. I believe it.

    Round 2

Rajuili is taking bold chances, launching himself directly at Segu past his jab with overhand rights on the face springing up from a low crouch and then quickly tying up. On the outside Rajuili is winning the jab battle, although inevitably Segu begins walking through his jabs applying steady pressure with long hammering rights. Rajuili is backed into the corner under fire but manages to duck and roll to one side to escape, leaving a trail of counters with a hooking flurry.

    10-9 Rajuili, still very close

    20-18 Rajuili

    Round 3

Segu begins coming forward behind a right hand but soon runs low on energy. Rajuili is throwing four-pieces, landing at least obliquely twice each with both hands, bashing inward from the sides in a pincer motion and staying close enough to grab Segu after each burst. Segu is backing up now, stretching out a jab, being walked down willingly, perhaps taking a breather or playing some possum. Rajuili is stalking, flurrying off the jab, and lashing up top with the right hand.

    10-9 Rajuili

    30-27 Rajuili

Rajuili is 11-8-1 (3) and Segu is 18-8-2 (6), both stopped twice. Probably in for a full ten, here.

Neither man was down in their previous encounter for this same title.

    Round 4

Rajuili is making the bout more civilized now, keeping Segu at distance with some footwork and bobbing & weaving to slip the outstretched jab, letting it pass just an inch from either side of his skull as he dips past it and comes up firing & scoring his own counter jab pitching himself momentarily inside toward Segu. Just straight-ahead combos by Segu, following wherever Rajuili moves and pumping out the same familiar sequences. Rajuili strays a little too close and is caught with a counter right hand, but still well in control.

    10-9 Rajuili

    40-36 Rajuili

    Round 5

Rajuili is planking his jab out from his neck toward Segu at long range, leaving a wide space open for Segu to sew in some counter 1-2s. Rajuili is mixing in some lead rights, very lazily executed with his rear heel picked up off the canvas, balancing precariously on his lead foot. Segu is patiently lining up his counters and picking off Rajuili's jabs with his right glove where he can. Nice thumping body combo by Segu as Rajuili bends forward in front of him, sledging either set of ribs. BIG looping right by Segu, tripling up on it, body-head-body! Rajuili flurrying back. Nice finish.

    10-9 Segu

    49-46 Rajuili

    Round 6

Rajuili is being slowed considerably now that Segu has focused on coordinated attacks downstairs. Segu is exploiting his reach to its full extent, leveraging big straight combos on the unprotected chin (as Rajuili's guard sags beneath it complacently while circling on the outside) and then flipping his arms to work pitchforking uppercut combos into his diaphragm bowing inside. Rajuili is jabbing & flurrying back weakly as he is walked down throughout the round.

    10-9 Segu

    58-56 Rajuili

Yeah when I first discovered the stream (and saw that it was a live broadcast on African television) I just assumed it was Theophane vs. Dodzi in Accra.
