Round 7

Rajuili is lobbing jabs and single light right hand leads in, shoulders rolled forward on the way in, and then clasping onto Segu's flanks and propelling himself outside. Segu is working the body diligently, slow & steady, high connect rate but low output. Segu is bashing his inner wrists against the sides of Rajuili's head while being held until the ref breaks them up.

Round 8

Rajuili is willingly hanging in the pocket and trading now, still having the advantage in speed and volume but no longer in accuracy, while Segu continues to land the heavier stuff. Rajuili's tactic seems to be to point-score as much as he can with shoeshines and then be close enough to hold when he feels he must. Segu is tapping Rajuili's gloves down with a light rapid woodpecker jab and then crashing through with right hands on the cheek. Segu working the body intermittently as well, causing Rajuili to hurriedly jump in and tie up. Rajuili doesn't like those body shots. Rajuili goes all out with a combo, spraying leather from mid-range when they're separated but eating jabs.

10-9 Segu, very close toe-to-toe round.

Some jawing (and late punches) after the bell, no love lost between these two.

 

Round 9

Rajuili falls in with a jab and chopping right while Segu hooks either side of his head. Rajuili is bleeding from the nose and getting his head snapped back by Segu's jabs every time he takes a step forward. Rajuili reaches in with high jabs aimed at the brow over the tops of Segu's gloves and then collapses against him working short weak right uppercuts on a straight vertical path into his breastbone while laying against him, smothering his own work.

Rajuili needs a KO to retain his title on the commentators' scorecards (they have Segu a little further ahead, I believe), and just to rally & win round ten on mine (as the champ retains with a draw)

 

Round 10

Rajuili is on his bike, showing off a few slick defensive tricks, pulling off some flashy matador turns off the ropes after luring Segu in and making him miss, or just sitting on an invisible chair and tilting his face either way to slip jabs. Rajuili is throwing light pot shots while skating around, giving Segu a wide berth. Halfway into the round, Segu begins to catch a piece with looping body shots, getting closer, forcing Rajuili to clinch. Segu is catching Rajuili's jabs and right hand leads on his palms and throwing hard body combos, unwilling to let Rajuili create more distance, trapping him on the ropes, muscling down on him, leaning his chest into Rajuili's face.

10-9 Segu, despite Rajuili's attempts to showboat.

Play by play commentator has it 98-92 Segu. His broadcast mate sounds a little skeptical and thinks it was closer but also sounds like he DKSAB, relative to his colleague.

Alright then, I guess we have a trilogy.

 

Rajuili annoying in his interview.

He wormed his way in to be interviewed first, despite losing, first of all.

Then he says "on my scorecard..." - bad start, right off the bat, your job in there was to be fighting, not keeping score.

Then he pulls the "see he was surprised he won, that should tell you something "

...and lastly he starts babbling about God.

Hoping in the rubber match he gets KTFO.

 

Lunga Stimela vs. Thembani Hobyani, 8 rounds @ super featherweight

 

Lunga "The Pressure Cooker" Stimela (whose name is alternately spelled "Sitemela", listed that way on Kwesé's onscreen graphics and on many South African news sites from a quick Google search...but as "Stimela" on BoxRec and on some other websites...) is a 9-0 (6) prospect and has bounced around between feather and light welterweight. Two his his three non-stoppages were decisions over none other than David Rajuili at lightweight.

 

Hobyani is 8-11-2, obviously here to lose, but has only been stopped twice.
