Live stream: This content is protected NOTE: Durodola vs. Sadiki already took place, ending about half an hour ago - I'm just doing the RBR now for the hell of it. Currently on live is another rematch in the card's nominal main event: Tony Salam vs. Chamunora "Sting" Gonorenda II for the WBF African cruiser title, a few rounds in already. The result of Durodola vs. Sadiki has yet to be updated on BoxRec; if you're curious and don't want to wait for the RBR it was: Spoiler Durodola TKO3 Sadiki
This is for the vacant WBF cruiserweight world title, yet for some reason is second-billed underneath a bout that is essentially for the same org's regional variant of this world title (WBF African cruiserweight title)
Round 1 Durodola is catching Sadiki's flurries and lone southpaw jabs on his left bicep, shoving through and then clubbing down with the right hand. Sadiki falls away into a crouch, going heel-toe along the ropes. Durodola stings him with a probing jab. Sadiki waving his right glove out in the air then waving both fists in front of his chest, making Durodola watch the birdie and then slashing at the chest with a sneaky left hook and bringing a right hand up top. Durodola is just plodding in sideways, nudging Sadiki back with his left foot pushing against Sadiki's right, feeding him jabs. 10-9 Durodola but hardly looking great so far.
Round 2 Durodola is getting jabbed in the face, keeping a high guard but leaving a gap between his wrists, exploited by Sadiki. High work rate by Sadiki, keeping Durodola on the end of his jab and then slapping him against the cheek with hooks while skating around him wide. Big body shot by Durodola, and Sadiki holds. Sadiki is pumping stiff left jabs into the face, over and over, and Durodola is just eating them. They tie up and Durodola lands some rabbit punches. Uppercut and hook combo by Sadiki, putting Durodola on the ropes, opening up, blasting him until the bell. 10-9 Sadiki 19-19
Sadiki doesn't even make it to his stool, limping after the bell to signal the second round's end, holding onto the ropes...commentators say word spreading at ringside is that he pulled a muscle in his leg while teeing off. Sadiki wants to continue but the physician is saying no. RTD2 - ? NO! They ring the bell and let it go.
Round 3 Durodola is jabbing and scooping in rights to Sadiki's chest. A few counter flurries by Sadiki at first, but then he winds up hobbling on a single leg and getting pummeled to his body against the ropes. The ref steps in and pushes Durodola off. TKO3!!
Damn, few minutes later and Sadiki still lying on his side with the ringside physician administering to him with his (cramped or strained) right leg partially elevated in the corner, rubbing in ointments with his latex-gloved fingertips.
Bizarre. This was looking to be a BAD night at the office for Durodola (even his finishing of the one-legged Sadiki was unimpressive); you have to wonder had the fluke injury not occurred whether Sadiki might have knotted up their rivalry 1 apiece to set up a rubber match.
Pretty unfortunate turn of events for Sadiki, who was having success using the walkaway ambush technique, and looking to have Durodola a bit flummoxed at the end of the second.
