Kyatoro Fujimoto is the reserve opponent for Povetkin if Hammer pulls out.

A Decent opponent for Povetkin better than Flores.

Take all of Kyotaro's professional stoppage losses in kickboxing and boxing combined, all ten of them, and they will (combined, mind you) be less brutal than what Povetkin does to him.

That evening would be way more interesting if he fights Hammer, Fujimoto and Flores on the same night. Would be 3-0 for Povetkin with 3 big KO's...

They should have made Fujimoto vs Flores on the card.

Might even be an easier night's work than Big George had in Toronto.

    Wait, I'm outta the loop...

Who is the "Flores" that was in the wings for Povetkin?

    The 6'5", 27yo, 16-1-1 (14) heavyweight prospect-gone-bust, Alexander Flores?

..or the 6'2", 38yo, 34-3-1 (21) longtime cruiserweight brisesmaid BJ Flores?

Neither makes any more sense than the other as a Povetkin opponent. Not sure why people are just throwing around the last name unqualified like anybody's supposed to know which Flores they mean..

BJ believe it or not, getting KO'd by Bellew evidently wasn't savage enough for him, so he actually contemplated moving up and facing Sasha. Maybe he wanted a truly brutal KO to erase the embarrassment of getting stopped by Bellew out of their minds.

We should have Flores vs. Flores, with Hammer vs. Hamer as the co-feature. The winners square off next and the winners of THAT will be within spitting distance of (aka still about 10 remotely meaningful top-40 victories away from) deserving a crack at Povetkin.

Povetkin would do Flores some serious harm. You can't even call that a sporting event , more like a sanctioned assault.

I never heard of this guy , but anybody is better than BJ.

Flores said the rumours are not true and he was never supposed to face Povetkin

No, this is wrong, he was offered the fight but refused the offer:

"Firstly, I accepted an offer to fight Povetkin," Flores said. - I also accepted the offer to fight with Sergey Kuzmin. The guys from the "World Boxing" made identical offers to ten different boxers, and then they chose one. Now Kuzmin meets with Amir Mansur, and I hope, Amir will knock him out. "

"Secondly, I'm not a spare rival for Povetkin," Flores added. - I wanted to fight with Povetkin and in the same way with Kuzmin. I refused the offer to be a reserve rival for Povetkin, because I want a guaranteed fight. I'm not going to be spare for Povetkin if I do not get paid for training, and I will not fight at least on the undercard. It's silly to prepare for a fight with Povetkin, and then stay with a bill of 25 thousand dollars for a training camp. I wanted to fight Povetkin and I wanted this fight, but I do not want to get into trouble. "
