...and 2nd WBO Asia Pacific heavyweight title defense, hust a few hours ago, taking out a glass-jawed Aussie. When is this guy actually going to step up in class? If you take away his knockout loss to Solomon Haumono and pair of robberies over blown up 154-lber Nobuhiro Ishida, you're left with a single decent name on his record. Six years later, his best win is still morbidly obese and more than halfway shot Chauncy Welliver.

I just don't get it. This guy always fought the best in kickboxing, and was never afraid to step in with consistently good opposition even after defeats. Why is his career since transitioning disciplines so pathetic? The field between him and the champs is more or less wide open. Heavyweight is supremely weak and yet the way Fujimoto is being protected you'd think either he was a coward incapable of defending himself (which of course we know from K1 not to be the case) or that HW is a stacked danger zone at the outer fringes of contention (which is also categorically not true)

Maybe he's begun to care more about making money than taking names and kicking ass?

Yeah, picking on Ishida not once but twice speaks to his entire crossover being more of a cash grab than anything. :ohno

The sad part is that he could probably make a bit of noise if he took being a HW contender even remotely seriously.

Maybe he just does it for fun, not for the fame.

His team spoke about the Charr/Oquendo winner after today's win...so maybe that's their long game

Ugh, talk about the path of least possible resistance. :ohno

If he's joining the WBA circus, though, we might have an outside chance of seeing Kyotaro vs. Briggs and that one's just fascinating to imagine.

BP how did he look today? Did this Aaron Russell clown have any success or was it a blowout?

    Think any video will surface?

I agree with most of what you said. Definitely a coddled fighter. I do recommend a scrap with Willie Nasio

Video will surface, was a stacked card in fairness with Hosokawa vs Baez, Okada and Yamauchi. Was expecting Boxingraise but Asign tweeted about the show so... See it in 3 weeks - __-

From what I've read it was a comfortable straight forward out box Russell .. Stop Russell performance. Russell had a lil success early on

Who do you wanna see him fight?

I suppose Charr vs. Oquendo winner is the smart route, the more that I mull it over. He could beat either of them, and there's no real viable path to become a "world titlist" otherwise.

Tbh I'd give him a small chance again Charr, especially if the latter tries to sleepwalk his way through the fight as he sometimes does.
