Kyotaro is the former K-1 heavyweight champion who is 4-0 with 3 KOs as a boxer. Now he's very early in his boxing career, looks very small for a HW and would be better off at cruiser, however Chauncy looked absolutely atrocious last time out against inactive journeyman Sherman Williams. I know Chauncy is a great guy, and I wish him all the best, but I scored that fight 118-110 Williams. The judges' cards (1 draw, 2 to Williams by a round) were all a joke. I was generous in giving Welliver 2 rounds and a 120-108 card for Williams would have been perfectly acceptable. Chauncy didn't look much better against ancient Bert Cooper in his previous fight, so it probably wasn't a one off. Chauncy does have a decent chin, and Kyotaro is a very small HW, so I have Kyotaro by wide UD (the fight is a 10 rounder). Also, good luck to Johann Duhaupas on the undercard, who is fighting an 8 rounder against a local fighter. The guy is actually a very decent HW who gets totally ignored as he has no backing whatsoever. He would easily beat Welliver and would probably beat quite a few "prospects" (he ran Pianeta pretty close a few years ago). He deserves some luck in his career and hopefully fighting on Kyotaro card (surely this is being televised in Japan?) will get him some exposure.
Does Chauncy still post on here? And what happened to TheMesserStick? :huh I think the pair of them just felt too embarrassed to return after the Sherman Williams loss :yep
after watching the williams fight and seeing chauncey fight live vs mensah ,I think he was better when fatter ,he seems even more weaker when hes lighter.
just to point out, the K1 HW championship is sort of similiar to amateur boxing, in that it was set at 91 kilograms. 91+ KG in K1 is super heavyweight, so more or less Kyotaro was the cruiserweight champ of k1.
Which time? Is a japanese tv station showing the fight? TV Tokio or Nippon TV, like all the other japanese fights?
:think I haven't watched any of Kyotaro's boxing matches but he seems to be doing well, surprising, since I didn't really think much of him in K-1.
