Shadalov patiently picking this kid apart. Lázaro "Niño Malo" (Bad Boy) Escobar comes in 6-2, with all eight of his professional contests having gone the distance - never scored or been on the receiving end of a kayo. Already eating some clean head-snapping bombs from the Russian-German in the 1st.

Lots of good head & body movement by Shadalov on the frontfoot.

Not a very busy southpaw jab, but he mixes up feints with it to keep his opponent guessing while looking to slice him unawares with a right hook or a left on the body.

    50-45 Shadalov

Clear class difference...getting to where you want to see this end inside schedule in the second half, no matter whether nobody's ever done so to Escobar before.

I saw some stuff online calling Shadalov the "next big thing in German boxing" and - honestly? Their domestic scene isn't exactly on fire right now, so that boast may not be all that empty. If you look at the 50 highest rated p4p guys on BoxRec, there's a ton of geriatrics hanging around (54 year old Arslan, 46 year old Sturm, and 40 year olds Cinkara, Huck & Charr) and the remainder are not quite the stuff of legend.

German homegrown boxing is definitely a bear market, and as far as native born? (as opposed to imported, as in the case of Jurgen Doberstein, Slawa Spomer, Freddy Kiwitt, Shadalov, Charr, Huck etc) - even slimmer pickings. Kabayel is by far their best 30-something and the landscape among 20-somethings is so barren that yeah, a moderate talent like Shadalov could emerge as the cream of the crop in short order with some good matchmaking.

MOTHER****ER. I was wondering how this was running so late (almost 1am in Buenos Aires)

Apparently this is all being shown on tape delay, and stupid BoxRec just updated with the result for the main event spoiled. :fusmile

Shadalov shutout. I give this performance ...a straight B. No minus, no plus.

He did fine, but - not even a KD?

Cuba versus Brazil - not exactly Mexico vs. Puerto Rico when it comes to close h2h boxing rivalries or their general reputation for producing skilled combatants. :sisi1

So, no, this is all live now but Lázaro Álvarez vs. José Muñoz was bumped down to being on the prelim show of all things? :dunno

Awful. Álvarez decided to put on a defensive clinic - moving around, bending at the waist, slipping punches. Otherwise it was all diving in hugging/mauling and sloppy slappy infighting. Not worth staying up this late for, at all.

    100-90 Álvarez

Recently watched some of Lazaro Alvarez in his prime and I must say I was quite impressed. He utterly schooled a young Zepeda and I think it's pretty much the same kind of style match-up as Zepeda vs Shakur and gives a good idea of how their fight will play out.

They say that a fight avoided is a fight won, but that is only true for some of the fans, some of the time.
