Oh...uh, if the only way to watch this is a $20 internet PPV, then my plans for tonight might involve Xenoverse 2 and fast-forwarding through commercials for the first half of Raw or so before passing out instead.

Really was banking on there being a Guatemalan (or any international coverage) feed.

 

Henry Alexis Rivera just stopped Tyre R. Rivera in either round 3 of a scheduled 4 at middleweight.

I was about to say it was an upset, because HAR looks to be a hard-traveled 50 and TRR about half that - but Henry (actually 33) came in 1-0 and 29 year old Tyre with the inverse record 0-1, so - what do I know?

 

Kind of weird/annoying they have this repetitive loud rap soundtrack mixed over the live feed drowning out most of the ring & crowd noise. Don't get me wrong, it beats some of the worst commentary I've heard in my time, but...

 

That was the card opener. We're going to climb the ladder of even numbers to reach the main event.

Another four-rounder, then a six, then an eight as the co-main and finally Martínez vs. Steen our 10 round marquee attraction.

...and yes they're still blasting Tupac. And now a baby's crying nearly as loudly in the background? Where is all this non-venue audio coming from?

 

Both combatants train in but don't hail from the United States; Alaverdian is a 7-0-1 (5) Israeli based in Las Vegas, NV and Irias a 15-6-1 (9) Nicaraguan based in Baton Rouge, LA.

 

BoxRec lists a 1" height differential (5'6" and 5'5") - but that's bologna. Irias has at least 3" on Alaverdian, plus a freakish wingspan advantage. The blonde & bearded little T-Rex of Zion can't do anything except whip hooks madly with both hands whenever he manages to force his way into range. Getting pieced up outside. Also doesn't help that Irias can switch-hit and has a very awkward style leaning forward loosely to unfurl right jabs before slapping the body with his left and melting outside to straighten up & reset.

 

Very close 3rd, with Irias ugly but effective throughout until the final half-minute where Alaverdian's persistence leaping in and smacking up at him with hooks pays off as he bloodies the lanky man's nose.

 

The person recording just got a "battery low" notification, ruh-roh...

 

Sloppy slugfest in the 4th.

Alaverdian wearing the iconic Tommy Morrison red white and blue U.S. flag trunks isn't actually the funniest thing about his ring presentation, it turns out. Working his corner is none other than Floyd Joy Mayweather, Sr. - it didn't even occur to me that his irrelevant ass might still be coaching in 2023.
