Léster Normandy Martínez Tut vs. Isaiah Steen RBR

Commentator thinks it should be stopped unless Steen mounts a huge turnaround rally in the 5th.

 

Round 5

Martínez stalking and wailing on Steen with both hands until getting tied up. Ref quick on the breaks. Steen in trouble, knocked into the ropes by a full extension right cross. Martínez keeps expanding his arsenal, now mixing in solo left upper-hooks on the ribs and overhand rights on the upper cheekbone. Steen getting caught with probably close to half of Martínez's power shots, unable to stop them with movement or his ineffective jabs or parries - really clinching is his only sanctuary.

Round 6

Martínez is sent to a neutral corner after the bell rings. Somebody in a suit is standing in the ring - commissioner? Ringside physician? They were motioning toward Steen for the ref to see, maybe cautioning to stop the fight? The ref wants this bout to continue, so the suit just shrugs and leaves. Time in. Heavy rights from Martínez. Steen wobbled by a jab again. Desperation flurries by Steen, and Martínez lurches in low and works the body. Steen drapes both arms over the nape of Martínez's neck. Jabs and uppercuts by Steen moving quickly to his left. Martínez threads a needle's eye with a right hand lead between the gloves and snaps the head of Steen back. Martínez in pursuit. Steen gets trapped on the ropes and takes a few lumps but spins his way out to ring center. Body flurry and clinch by Steen. Martínez shakes him off but gets clinched again. Heavy rights up top by Martínez. Steen leans down on him and they grind foreheads. Ref warns for billygoating.

"Heart of a lion, heart of a lion!"

I mean...he is yet to flop onto the canvas and ride a count to quit the job, so in that sense yeah sure he's got...uh, some heart. Dude is still flat out running and fouling like crazy. This isn't like some brave performance for the ages.

 

Round 7

Martínez is taking a relative breather, more conservative in his output, still cleaving very close to Steen but working the jab more, and some isolated body shots. Counter jabs and shoeshines up top from Steen, when he isn't clinching - which is damn near always. REF: THREATEN OR TAKE A POINT, WTF!

10-9 Martínez, but the least of his offensive bombardments so far.

This is the same round where Martínez gassed and got dropped by Raiko Santana, if there's any saving grace or sliver of hope for Steen...,

Round 8

Martínez is picking up the onslaught where he left off in round six after going into cruise control for the seventh. Body shots bringing the guard down and then right hands on the head. Steen too weary to even hold now, and he gets saved by the ref.
