LA Boxing Pundit: "Pacquiao Will Beat Cotto At Any Weight"

De La Hoya was a walking dead man with no power (by Freddie Roach's own admission), Diaz has no power and didn't land anything significant, and I am not even going to respond regarding Hatton because we both know the truth. Pacquiao got buzzed by Oscar Larios didn't he?

 

Roach never admitted De La Hoya was a walking dead man with no power. In fact Roach has admitted over and over again since the fight that Pacquiao fought the perfect fight and that this win is being underrated.

 

Roach did say before the fight that De La Hoya's killer instinct was totally gone, and was proved right. Whatever people say, De La Hoya had absolutely nothing left. It was still a superb performance by Pacquiao though.

 

If PAC wants Cotto let him have it. But at 147lbs. 140 is unhealthy and dangerous for Cotto. If Manny wants to have a real fight, then fight him without killing him making the ****ing weight.

 

Do you think that Dlh was drained, and that Pac's win over Dlh was a great/underrated win for Pac?

 

Post-Margarito Cotto hasn't been the same....

San Raf, we know opinions are like... but at any rate, I would like to see the fight happen at at 147lbs. We have yet to see how Pac would handle a full 5 rds and or even 10 rds of punches by a real welterweight who isn't a walking corpse or punching bag. Despite Cotto's victory being less than perfect against Clottey, we have to think, when was the last time that Clottey was hit as much as he was in the Miguel Cotto fight? When was the last time that Clottey was knocked down? When was the last time that Mosley had a hard time at 147? I think Miguel Cotto gave Clottey the hardest fight of his life and I have no doubt he would do the same to Pacquiao. In conclusion, I am not convinced of Pacquiao being able to handle the big boys at 147lbs.

 

I don't really take what Steve Kim and Doug Fischer say about any SoCal-trained fighter at face value. I think Steve Kim even trains at Wild Card, his view of Pac has to be skewed.

 

People are forgetting Pac barely got hit vs Hatton and DLH. How would he take Cotto's punches? Or will he win without taking too many?

 

2 years ago it would have been ridiculous to think of such a fight. Pac is really something...

i mean, the de la hoya fight was more a catchweight fight to make it happen. even then he came in at like 142.

 

Yeah, I don't trust Steve Kim he's all about Cali and Mexican fighters. Very biased.

 

I think Kim has a point in this regard though, I mean how often do you see any fighter move up from 106 and not only clean out divisons but dominate and stop bigger men along the way?

Manny Pacquiao is a rare fighter he is not in the relm of Mayweather or Whitaker this kid is heading towards the level of robinson, Dempsey, Louis etc... this is a very special fighter we are looking at here and some will still doubt which is fine by me becuase it makes his wins that much better in the end.

I have stopped doubting Manny Pacquiao the man has proven with out a shadow of a doubt that he belongs, Miguel Cotto on the other hand might indeed be damaged goods from the Margarito fight, but lets also look at the glass as half full.

Cotto did take shots from a man who may have had loaded gloves who also has a high work rate, and it took Margarito 10 rounds to get the job done. Cotto also recently just ekked out a win over a guy who gave Margarito a much better fight than he himself did, sure the fight would lead one to think Cotto is done, but I just dont see that either, Cotto fought the right fight to beat Clottey.

I think its a pick em fight, but I lean towards Manny, But dont rule Cotto out of the picture in this one, Pacquiao may just be the fight that puts him back on top.
