i know you idolize pbf man. can't blame you, the guy got skills, i give you that.

great left hook, defense etc. if only the guy was managed better, i think he would be more popular.

popularity always bring the big bucks. his villain persona is only good when he is active in boxing, but off it, i really don't know how he will be able to maintain such lifestyle.

instead of being another michael jordan, still earning around $50m even in retirement, pbf chose to act like a tough thug that he is.

he is actualy quite like my idol knick, latrell sprewell.

what a shame really. i think the guy could have been one of the greatest. and its quite difficult to defend the guy with his actions nowadays.

 

I guess he is talking about the same Marquez who got wobbled by Diaz. Diaz was winning the fight by at least 3 points until the stoppage. Cotto owns him.

 

I've always been a Pac fan, this isn't new.

About Mayweather, he is popular enough, let's face it as soon as he announced his return EVERYONE is screaming "FIGHT PACQUIAO" and are actually pissed off that Pac will fight Cotto. Both these guys are the most popular two fighters in boxing right now and the biggest draws, putting them together is an explosion in boxing. It's talking trash that made him this popular, people love to hate him it seems and if it attracts people to his fights then he's doing it right. Muhammad Ali talked trash 10x worse than Mayweather ever will, Ali took his trash talking personal sometimes, just check out how Frazier is STILL pissed off. All the negativity turns into positives once the fighter retires for good. :good

 

i know. mayweather is really quite popular and he had achievements to back it up. mostly in the lower weights though. its just that in my opinion his level of competition in the higher weights were not commensurate to the talent that he had.

i personally think he could have handled oscar better although oscar seemed really prepared for the fight although he gassed out.

just disappointed really to see pbf close out an otherwise sterling career with otherwise boring fights.

dlh-pbf was quite a snoozefest if you ask me. hatton, was ho-hum despite the KO. gatti, was of course expected.

i hope he retires after he fights cotto, mosley and pac in no particular order.

if he wins all 3, i am sure his ranking will be quite high, possibly higher than pac. because he retired undefeated and with loads of cash.

do you think he will turn out like another tyson or holyfield? you know, short in cash. he can always be a trainer though.

 

both pacquiao and mayweather are great.. i just dont like excuses!

 

I think Pac has a great chance to beat Cotto, not 100% but great chance.

Pretty good reasonable points you make, even though I disagree with "boring" but in general fans do view defensive fighters as boring and I can't blame them, it's all about taste.

Some people tend to exaggerate about his last few fights claiming they weren't impressive enough. Let's face it, Mayweather got fighter of the year in 2007 for these two wins so they shouldn't be overlooked. Moving up in weight for DLH was a serious move and DLH had all the advantages in that fight, these things can't be overlooked. People overlooked the fact that Mayweather had to move down in weight for Hatton yet if Pacquiao decides to move down for Marquez people will be all over it about how he possibly "drained" IF he loses or looks bad. There's SO much bias I could mention regarding Mayweather and how he's portrayed but let's just let it go for now.

He announced his come back and officially signed a FIVE fight deal, there's FIVE more fights to look forward to and he KNOWS he needs those five WINS to steal the "fighter of the generation" title from Pacquiao and we all know Pacquiao holds that title right now safely otherwise Mayweather wouldn't have returned.

Regarding money, I'm not sure what the future holds in that one it's always an issue especially with fighters though I'm sure he has things sorted out. He seems to keep his self busy with different things which is a sign the guy has his eye on his money. When a fighter is shown involved in different stuff after retirement you know he's still working that money and not sleeping on it.

Let me tell you, IF his return turned out to be for money he's in for doom. You need to go in the ring with someone like Pacquiao with the mentality to break him down and WIN or else you are iced. If he goes in with the mentality of how he will be riding to the bank to purchase the paycheck then he's going to get beat and beat BADLY. In this situation I'm as confused as you are and not sure if he's there for money or for recognition.

 

a breath of fresh air. its good to see a pbf fan not in the likes of p4pdapedo or danny_rand.

pbf marketability has really taken a hit in my opinion. the win over dlh was considered "boring" as indeed market reception has been very lukewarm for any rematch despite the SD.

usually, contested fights like this often leads to a rematch, ala MAB-EM or to a certain extent EM-Pac or JMM-pac.

and now with this reported cancellation due to a supposed rib injury, when majority of the esb fans here think it was becaus of ticket sales.

PBF needs to be a hot commoditiy again to steal the fighter of the generation tag i agree. If I were him Mosley, Pac, Cotto and Margarito in that stretch. or throw in williams to replace JMM.

This will be enough to silence all the haters and regain some of his disgruntled fans, me included.

the left that sent jmm in the 2nd fight down was a compact left counter.
same with diaz.

the hatton chin music was as not as compact in my opinion but longer and hence generated more pop.

it is probably because of the angle from where it is thrown coupled with the muzzled view because your own arm is hiding it.

it seems, that just after you throw a right and miss, a power left coming out of nowhere sends you to the canvas.

 

the same left hand which sent JMM, diaz and hatton to the canvas.

JMM and diaz left where short and compact.

hatton had more length to it and hence more pop. but really the angle from where it is thrown makes it difficult for you to block it.

just after throwing your own right, and obscuring your view, a left hand pops out of nowhere.

 

Cotto's Hand speed is Underated also his rythym is offbeat which disrupts alot of fighters rythym example during Cotto vs Clottey, Jim Lampley said "Cotto's jab seems to come when you least expect it like Marco Antonio Barrera's" Cotto's Problem with Pacqiuao is going to be footspeed like Freddie Roach said after the Oscar de la hoya and Ricky Hatton fights "I said speed was going to win the fight's and everyone thought I was referring to handspeed when in reality I meant footspeed." Pacmans Footspeed coupled with his blinding handspeed is going to spell the end for Cotto I think Cotto realises this too he is going to take the fight for the payday and rightfully so. Plus the power will be there for Pacqiuao Pacman all day and I really like Cotto but styles make fights Pacman is a Bad style for Cotto. :hi:
