    Joshua Vs Klitchko 26.79$ - 1.5m
    Alvarez Vs Golovkin 79.99$ - 1.3m
    You do the math.

Still the population differences between the UK and US show that AJ's numbers are extremely high.

Population has nothing to do with it.

    Impressive.

GGG vs Canelo made $27,059,850 at the gate >>>>>>>>>>> Ward vs Kovalev I made $3,341,980

GGG vs Canelo $27,059,850>>>>>>>>>>> Ward vs Kovalev II made $2,187,340 at the gate

    $3,341,980 + $2,187,340 = $5,529,320

    $27,059,850>>>>>>>>>>>$5,529,320

1 fight made almost 5 times the amount of money at the gate than 2 did combined

$27,059,850 announced attendance 17,318, paid attendance = 16,384. And it might even be more than that, maybe even considerably, if it is I'll amend it, if it's correct I'll leave it as it is, and if it's less than 17,318 I'll still leave it as it is :)

''Bruh, sort me out with a free ticket''

''Sorry no can do these things been selling like hot cakes, bruh''

    $3,341,980 - announced attendance 13,310, paid attendance = 10,066

    $2,187,340 - announced attendance 10,592, paid attendance = 6,366.

''Bruh, you want some free tickets for the fight?''

''Nah, I don't even like boxing, bruh.''

''Just take 'em, bruh, I've literally got thousands and thousands of these things to give away''

GGG vs Canelo = 1.3 M PPV buys >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ward vs Kovalev I = 160,000 PPV buys + Ward vs Kovlev II = 125,000 PPVs buys

    1 fight = 1.3 M PPV buys

    2 fights = 285,000 PPV buys

1 fight sold almost 5 x the amount of PPV buys 2 fights did

    GGG is from Kazakhstan

    Ward is from the US

GGG only arrived in the US 6 years ago

Ward has lived there his entire life

GGG's first fight on US TV was in 2012

Ward's was in 2004 and all his fights have been shown on US TV

Ward is America's only Olympic gold medalist in over 20 years, granted he cheated like crazy in the semi-final and should've only left with a bronze.

GGG speaks English about as well as a 6 year old American child

    Ward speaks it fluently

GGG has sold out venues on the East coast and the West coast and has broken records in the process

Ward can't sell out his own hometown and comp tickets for his fights are handed out in their thousands

GGG has got endorsement deals with Apple and Nike

Ward has an endorsement deal with Nike

GGG's fights are broadcast in over 120 countries

Ward would be lucky if his are broadcast in 120 households outside the US

Don't forget that GGG's HBO 2 day special in 2013 set a viewing record for the series too.

'Gennady “GGG” Golovkin continues to impress in-and -out of the ring with record numbers for his television ratings.

This week HBO announced that it’s “2Days: Gennady Golovkin” documentary feature surrounding Golovkin’s knockout victory of Gabriel Rosado on January 19 was the highest rated ever of it’s acclaimed series with over three million total viewers'

And all the tickets for GGG's debut on British soil for his fight against Brook sold out in 11 minutes.

I usually go to the sport bar to watch fight. But if I could pay 5$ for a good stream, knowing it will be good quality, I would buy it. Those 1.3 millions are probably from sport bars, group of friends or guys who don't know Internet. Because why on earth would somebody pay 80$ when he can watch it for free on the Internet at this time when people are moving away from cable companies.

GBP were of the thinking it would do over 2 million so its got to be somewhat disappointing to them.

The problem now is that for a rematch to take place off those numbers, Golovking pretty much has to be willing to accept the same guarantee of the original fight.

1.3 million tells me that its the Latino fanbase by itself that carried the PPV as its almost identical to the amount of sales that Canelo-Chavez generated.

Wow, you were crazy to expect 2m, lol. Imo, if this fight had gone on w/o GGG it would have tanked even more badly as fans are still reeling from the last crap fest from Canelo.

How about some sports being more popular in certain regions?
Okay, i was wrong o say that the population has nothing to do with it, but its a small factor.
Boxing is a lot more popular in the UK, than it is in the states.

You're absolutely correct. There's not many people around where I live in Los Angeles that I can have a conversation about boxing with.
Sure there was a lot of chit chat about the Canelo-Golovkin fight the morning after, but when I pressed to them specifics about why they thought Golovkin won, the only thing most can come up with was punchstats had him landing more punches.
Obviously most people who view these PPV fights are not only heavily influenced by the commentary, they apparently are all influenced by the commentary because most couldn't conversate with me about and point to specifics about what any of the fighters did well or didn't do well.
    In other words, TDKSAB!!!!

    How so?

The amount of homes that AJ can sell a PPV too in the UK is significantly lower than the US.

Bumping this because according to Oscar 1.3 million is not a final, accurate number. He says...

“While everyone at Golden Boy Promotions and GGG Promotions appreciate the media’s recognition that the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin was an enormous success, the figure that is being cited by some news outlets is simply inaccurate.

“Not only are satellite operators and cable companies still in the process of compiling data, that number does not include online PPV sales through RingTV.com, Sony Play Station, and Sling TV which far exceeded any previous fight featuring Canelo or Golovkin. The bottom line is that we expect the final numbers to be well north of current reports, and we will make a decision on reporting those numbers when we know they are accurate.”
