We not only had an article on the fight, but did live round by round coverage. If you're looking for info on a fight, you can usually find it SOMEWHERE on the internet.
He was badly outboxed, how about that? He got TKOed in the last minute, but that was just Uchiyama going for the KO to be exciting. He was way the hell behind on the cards when it happened.
i agree... thanks to torrent sites i am able to watch the fights from Japan.. And i gotta say, i have really seen some cracking fights from last year... I am downloadingPoonsawat Kratingdaenggym vs Satoshi Hosono 2 at this moment.. really looking forward to it... from what i heard it was a cracking fight..
Hey Brickhaus.... where is the article ...i did see the round by round thread but have not seen the article you are talking about.... hope for more coverage on this site for Asian boxing as i love the site and at times there is some great commentary in the forums...
Language barrier, lack of Americans competing at the divisions, and the isolation goes both ways. Their promoters invest no time in cultivating a WORLD following. I am sure Asian countries could make a killing fighting in California and Texas against great Mexican fighters. Only Pac seems to cross the Pacific to do battle.
Poonsawat went to Ireland to fight Dunne. Koki Kameda fought in Mexico a bunch of times. Marvin Sonsona fought in Canada his last two fights and will be in PR for his next one. A bunch of Bob Arum's Pinoys (Concepcion, Melligan, Cuello, etc.) come to the states for various PPVs. But pretty much everyone is going to fight wherever they can make the most money.
I don't know if philipinos count but I see Asians getting coverage all the time in boxing specially now.
good responses... it is a shame as I have in the past seen many great fights in the lower divisions...but the weight divisions are not as exciting here in the West.. lots of great fights to be made but when u are the cash cow of a nation it is better to stay at home and defend the title then take the risk and lose your belt an gain exposure to further your reputation unless you are the "goods: or a great fighter" i have seen many Thai world chamipions make 8-10 defenses than lose their title and be frozen out for another title shot for many years...thus losing their career essentially and making silly fights waiting for another shot... which wastes their fighting potential as well
Uchiyama is only one of two to stop Nedal "SkinnY" Hussein LArios couldn't do it. Good finish.I think this kid might be something special. BRING on Chris JOHNS!! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdjpD2syGw0[/ame]
