One of my friends is hardly a boxing fan but will usually watch the big fights. I text him last night asking if he was watching AJ at the weekend and he replied ‘what’s AJ’? It turns out he had no idea the fight was happening this weekend. I also had a chat with my folks and mentioned I’d be watching the fight this weekend and I don’t think they knew it was on either. Is anyone else finding this with non-hardcore fans and casuals? Sky may take a bath with this show.
If your friend is unaware that on Saturday a heavyweight boxing bout for most of the belts is taking place, can he really be considered a friend? I don't think so. He needs to be de-friended immediately.
I guess this is all anecdotal right, but the usual guys I talk to about boxing are all watching it and chatting about it like usual. Even my son, who isn't that bothered, knows about it cos he drinks Joshua's lucozade and keeps an eye on social media - so he'll (unusually) watch. He hasn't bothered with a fight since Klitschko at Wembley.
It doesn’t feel as if there is as much hype of this fight as there should be. Likely down to Joshua not being the favourite and it taking place in Saudi Arabia I’d imagine.
Unless DAZN strike a deal this could be the last opportunity to see Joshua fight in a pub full of people. I’ve some great nights over the years, the Klitschko fight in particular.
Agree fella Completely underwhelmed with only 2 days to go knowing that The Humble Crew are going to feel the pain again unless our man can find a huge punch early in the fight. The Saudi location certainly does not inspire enthusiasm either.
Fury looks to have stole a lot of Joshua’s plastic fanboys. Even those dolts realised that they had been had, and after enough years jumped ship to the man who actually takes on tough opponents and can do it abroad. I can’t see any other result than a Usyk KO. Joshua is going to be stopped one way or another. He should stick to snooze fests with crooked referees in UK stadia against the likes of Paint Dry and co.
Hard to disagree after the fight at Tottenham. Haye led the way for the British Heavyweights conning the British public with Joshua, Fury, and even British level Chisora, Whyte and Bellew raking in millions and millions of pounds.
Woukd Joshua beat a prime Danny Williams? I really am not sure. He has height advantage but Danny was naturally very heavy. One of the most naturally heavy set boxers I’ve ever seen. Must have been physically very strong. Joshua’s length a big advantage but he is a gasser. Without the sos, weights and high calories he’d be walking around at 14 stone.
Would have been a good fight with a prime Danny Williams and also a prime Matt Skelton would have seriously tested his tank/heart.
These are men who, in their prime, wouldn’t have looked out of place in a ring with the fat pudding who made a fool of Joshua. Aside from a lucky punch he has absolutely no chance of beating Usyk. His best bet is to come out with his eyes shut swinging everywhere and hoping for a one in a million punch to land. There’s more chance of the sun colliding with the moon.
