Even at his best he probably had a better right hand anyway, but straight-right Lacy doesn't quite roll of the tongue the same. Lacy's shoulder is done, his punch resistance(compared to what it was) is somewhat done and his belief is done. Jones is gonna win this in a boring UD for me. I like Jeff though and actually hope he does manage to pull of the upset, but he's gonna need a ko to do it and that's something he hasn't produced in nearly 4 years !
My gut feeling is that Jones will be ahead on the cards but Lacy will have had some success with his power a few times during the first 4-5 rounds, altough Jones manages to win them, but i got the feeling Lacy will land a few brutal hooks some point as Jones is moving off the ropes, Jones down, gets up and is stopped on his feet. Thats a gut feeling and how i can imagine it. However, if Jones wins it will be an easily embarrassing UD for me...Ill boxrec the result in the morning, but im hoping for RJ Juniour to win (Y).
Its a 50/50 fight with either RJJ winning a UD or getting himself spanked out. Still not worth staying up for.
sounds like a few of the lads stayed up to watch it, I read online that Jones toyed with him all night and then it got stopped as Lacy was just a punchbag. Can't say I am surprised at that outcome...
Yep, Roy was on the ropes while lacy was going to the body talking to the crowd saying "watch this" and then unloading on him with combinations. Lacy's face was a mess, not for the first time.
Lets have it right... the career of Jeff Lacy was ruined when JC cleaned his clock in Manchester......I aint watched thi scontest but it seems like an easy nights work for RJJ....:bbb
The same thing should of heppened on in the Calzaghe fight.... that ref in Manchester that night never helped his career much did he? not that he was that good to begin with obviously.
You can't really blame the ref, it was a unification fight and Lacy wasn't exactly out on his feet, just severely outclassed. Besides, Calzaghe would still be getting criticism for a "dubious stoppage". His corner, on the other hand, I blame entirely. Dan Birmingham was bad for Lacy, an awful trainer regardless of the awards he won.
Although his corner probably should have pulled him out in that fight, the fact that they didn't had little effect on his career imo. The 2nd round in the 2nd fight against Tsypko is where his career truly ended(when the shoulder went).
