Seriously though, I live in Nashville and a major fight has not been here in a while. After this **** poor turnout I doubt there will be one again. Where does the blame lie? Are the promoters responsible..the city? Who? I have yet to see one billboard, hear a radio advertisement, see a bar offering drink specials, etc. about this fight. Is this normal? Are there any people in boxing towns that have a different experience?
He ran like a coward against the mediocre Edison Miranda. No way in hell does he stand up to Jermain Taylor.
There's no promotion for anything lately, think they will pay the most attention to Pacquiao vs DLH instead and leave all other fights semi-ignored this year because of the economy and because Pac vs DLH is going to guarantee a lot of money anyway. Sad if anyone remembers how this fight was labeled as a dream match back when Lacy was considered the best SMW and Taylor the best MW.
Im gona take a ride up to Nashville Saturday to see it. Tickets arent too high priced. I think it will be a pretty good show. The last time I went to Tennessee for a fight though my boyhood hero got destroyed in front of me. (Iron Mike) Looking forward to it though.
Taylor has to win this fight. If he looses to Lacy he is done. Lacy on the other hand seems to have got over his injury and needs a big win in the worst way. He simply cannot afford to loose another big fight. He will be looking to apply a lot of pressure. Both of these fighters should be given some credit for taking a chance. Either one of them could have racked a half dozen wins over stiffs and maybe got a big payday. But they are laying it all on the line here. I expect a good fight by two hungry fighters. If the venue is empty for this one something is wrong with the location.
There's probably not promotion at a huge amount because it's not a world title fight, it should get some of course, it is on HBO. I didn't even know this fight was happening in Nashville until now, I'm sure it'd be too expensive for me to take the 2 hour drive there and try to find some tickets, anyone think this might be sold out?
Yeah, this was one of those dream matchups a few years ago. My thought was that Taylor and Lacy would both win and defend titles in impressive reigns and then meet a 168 for the right to be called the baddest man under light heavy. Guess I was wrong about that.
