Figured I'd start a thread to give some props to Sim, the first Mongolian to win a world boxing championship; which was done in resounding fashion by sparking a pretty decent Takenori Hatekayma for the WBA 130lb strap. Went on to win another title at 135lbs, and gave an up-and coming Juan Diaz a pretty good tussle, even though he lost a lopsided decision.

He may have been painfully slow of hand and foot, but he was tough as hell, and could flat out crack.

    Here's his kayo of Hatekayama:

    Thoughts?

Actually, his hand speed in the Hatekeyama fight looked pretty good, upon another viewing. The one-two that he landed to score that kd was from the textbook, too.

I wondered what happened to Sim after the Diaz fight. I presumed that no one wanted to fight him, due to him being tough as nails and dangerous. I saw his fight w/ Diaz and though he lost, I was impressed by his shear toughness.

One of the toughest *******s of the past few decades, no doubt.

I believe he smoked his entire career as well.

He beat Ebo Elder in a title eliminator, and apparently retired after the fight.

And, Russell, I heard the same thing, too...was married to an English professor/writer, too, from what I understand. Interesting character, from the sounds of it....
