Sergei. It was a great fight, it's a shame it was very low profile otherwise it could've been one of those fights people other than boxing nuts talk about for years afterwards.

Don King called Lamon the "Black Rocky"

Hope Lamon turns out OK he was a very likable guy who put on some very exciting fights.

I'm sorry to hear about his condition, I've always been a fan and I wish him the best of luck in his life.

Yes, I mostly remember how he took Wlad's onslaught, survived, and went on to win. Amazing.

I also recall the brutal Liakhovich battle with Brewster. Great fight.

I hope his sight gets better.

Really sad, a shame he never developed just the basic skills as a HW, he could've been alot better, and would not have taken so much punishment.

Aside from the Golota fight, he looked bad in every fight, soaking up all kinds of punishment, and winning on pure toughness, had he devoloped some skill, he could've been much better.

    Hello,

so in the article mentioned by the thread starter there is this quote by Brewster:

I am just a casual boxing fan hence I don't know about every "quirk" of this sport. Therefore I wonder: Isn't it a right for the opponent to inspect the other fighters gloves? Isn't it against the rules to refuse inspection?

If so, wouldn't it be a sure sign of foul play if the opponent refuses inspection?

Just imagine you are Brewster - having an already damaged eye - and your opponent might be loading his gloves. How would you react? I mean, Brewster basically lost an eye in this fight.

Or is it just the usual BS of a fighter who was beaten fair and square?

Sad but overdue. Lamon should have stopped after Liakjovich.

He had good power, a good chin, but even bigger heart. He would get hurt but just keep trying.

Thats tough to say without serious proof ala Margarito. Though fighters often times know when something just aint right. Brewster's eye has been an issue since april of 06 after he fought Lyakhovich.

My guess is Brewster probably lost fair and square. no fighter wants to admit they dont have it anymore or lost to a lesser oppenent. Remember when Wlad made a million excuses for why he was knocked out against Brewster? He first blamed his cutman and later fired him for putting vaseline on his legs before the fight, he was poisoned, low sugar count etc... Sometimes it looks worse when a fighter can't just admit defeat.
