An buster douglas, mccall were gifted, a heart an chin as strong as he had is important. An what wlad did to him in there first fight, no question shortened his career an messed up his eye sight. Top ten any era, NO QUESTION

That's sad to hear. It must have happened sometime after his rematch with Wlad though. Brewster was tested after that and his eyes were still 100% fine. I wonder if this happened in his most recent fight, or in sparring?

P4PBute, your comments are ****. The more you praise Brewster, the more people will want to say more realistic things and this thread shouldn't be people saying why he wasn't that good. You overrate him, to put it simply.

Anyway, he was a good fighter and an even better person. I hope he has a food retirement because he deserved it. A proud warrior, which is a rarity in the current heavyweight scene.

An neither of the two heavyweights you named had any staying power. Buster knocked out Tyson and fought Holyfield 4 or 5 months later and was brutally knocked out in 2 or 3 rounds. Buster threw an uppercut and missed from the outside and was countered with holyfields hook. Your never suppose to throw an uppercut on the outside. Mccall is best known for his granite chin and knocking out emanuel stewardless Lennox Lewis. Crazy enough, steward was working the Mccall corner for that fight. McCall has had an up and down career since. Though would never hold the title again.

I agree, Brewster is tough as nails, but his overall boxing skill is way outside the top 10. He had alot of close fights and losses to guys outside the top 10. I'm a huge Brewster fan, and have been since I seen him fight live back in 01 against Eitienne on the spadafora undercard in pittsburgh.

Brewster is/was a great fighter. Heart of lion.

Nasty allegations thrown at Helenius. Not at all sportsman-like conduct from Brewster accusing Helenius without evidence. I hope that this gets thouroughly investigated; did Brewster ask for glove-inspection, who inspected gloves etc.

that is truly sad to hear that he is blind in one eye

to be perfectly honest during his peak i wasnt a fan, this may sound stupid but i was such a big wlad fan at the time i never really liked him. i dont know if any other fans are like this but he beat my favorite fighter so i never rooted for him

well as time went by and i got older probably after his 2nd fight with wlad i watched all his fights again and gained a real appreciation

his toughness and comeback vs Wlad was something to be inspired by if only more athletes could have that heart no quit attitude

his blowout of golota was masterful

his come form behind in germany vs Krasniqi in an all out war was great

his effort vs Sergei L was amazing hurt eye and getting pounded he rallied and dropped him. in the 9th he looked ready to go and didnt he made the final bell

what a career he went from nothing to champion and can be satisfied with his accomplishments

    God Damn It!

It makes you a little mad. If he had eye problems that go back that far, then he should not have been commissioned to fight. Now the man is going to be permanently blind in one eye, and for what?

    Typical Sauerland crime.

    Very sad to hear this.

I wish Lamon Brewster all the best. Very good fighter!

He knocks Krasniqi out in germany, this was great!

Hate to see Lamon go out like this, horrible news about his sight being lost. Always will remember the battles he brought on for the fans & a honest good man outside the ring.

Didn't Calvin Brock go blind in his left as well? Makes me wonder if Wlad's sustained beatings is a factor. The fights should either get stoped earlier or he should go in for the kill.

All time top ten: Yes, no question, he does not belong. But if you threw him back in the 90's he would be in the top ten, that is what i am saying, that guys like mercer got a good war in front of them, douglas could be stopped, that is if brewster was thrown back in the 70's, he might not get that belt, but he would of been a mandatory, an you usally got to be a top ten to get a mandartory. Not #1 in the top ten, maybe #5 in some era's, most i think. number #10 in others.
