I stumbled upon this video of round 8 of the Brewster Meehan fight that I hadnt seen before. I dont know how the entire fight went, whether it was controversial or not but that round 8 is just so brutal. How many right hands did Brewster take? Those are the same right hands that knocked out Davaryl Williamson. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-2ai08s4CA&feature=related[/yt] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-2ai08s4CA&feature=related I think Kali Meehan is underrated. Dont know why he was so intimidated by Hasim Rahman who is not half the puncher Lamon Brewster is.
OUCH. Brewster took some mean shots to the head and body, plus he was gassed. It took a lot of heart for Brewster to make it out of that round. If I were the ref, I would have been on the verge of stopping that fight. Brewster fought back just enough to keep the ref away.
I wouldnt exactly say Rahman is half the puncher Brewster is. If Hasim has anything he has a bit of sting in both hands...the rest of his game is so poor though that it probably makes his power look better. I scored this fight for Meehan..I thought he took a pretty clear 7-5 decision in the end, this round was surely a 10-8 aswell. I was actually a tad suprised Nady didnt stop it, he has often stopped fights for less. Kali showed a ton of improvement in this fight, in just about every department. Though he deserved the decision it wasnt by a massive margin and this was probably his best shot at bagging a title. As stylistically and ability wise Brewster was his most realistic chance. I dont consider him much of a title threat now.
Well he stopped Zab... :think But in this fight he almost actually seemed to stay away from the action so he wouldnt have to stop it. He stood a few strides behind Meehan for much of the onslaught when you would have thought he would have been in close watching Brewster like a hawk.
kali had done many rounds sparring with brewster for brewster v klitschko, so he knew his style well.i thought he won .
got lots of small fights on offer but trying to get in the big fights, but if not will just keep ticking away the wins in usa waiting for my shot at a big name
sure a fight with bowie would be great if it gets on espn or something, i am aiming for any top heavy dkp has, was sparring mollo and others in usa recently
Brewster was always a very limited boxer who was a spoiler because of his power and chin. He got beat by two fringe contenders in Etienne and Shufford. He was freak lucky for Wlad to gas out and be able to win that fight. Wlad was destroying him up untill gassing out. Brewster then really lost to Meehan. He was able to blitz Golota and do a comeback KO against Karsniqi after being mostly outboxed the whole fight. Those two fights were his most impressive. Then he loses agains Lyakhovich, who has nerver really been that good. The second Klitschko fight just showed what would happen with him and Klitschko in 9 out of 10 fights.
