There's little difference between Stiverne (I) and Brewster, and we know how thst went. Brewster had a better left hook than Stiverne (who had a decent one), slightly better chin, and worse everything else, especially counterpunching.
Stevern is garbage, he never beat any top 10 fighters. Brewster has victories over close to prime Klitschko (first fight with Steward in his corner), Golota and a couple of solid fighters like Krasniqi. I got Brewster by KO. Stevern would not beat any version of Wlad.
Brewster's chin was very good and he had a lot of power. He's above Stiverne. Faster too, not a slob like Stiverne.
He had a better career than Stiverne, but was a similar level fighter. Every one of his title fights except for Golota was life-or-death apart from thw Wlad rematch where he got destroyed. He lost the belt to Liakovich who was one of the weakest title holders at heavyweight that I can remember. Stiverne showed a level of consistency that Brewster never did by beating Arreola twice and knocking him out for the first time.
Brester wasnt much good. dunno he might win. 50/50 when prime. Maybe we should favour wilder, at least he can beat middlers.
Brewster was as tough as a concrete wall and was never scared to mix it up. He hit hard and went well to both the head and body and I would expect him to snap Wilder's stringbean waist in half. The difference here is that Brewster could really take a lumping and Wilder not so much. Since Wilder has little defence I think the accumulated damage sees him get stopped mid-to-late.
I don't get people believing Stiverne is any good at all. He has a punch and a chin, but very little boxing ability. The guy made shot Austin look like prime Larry Holmes, got outboxed by frikin' Arreola in their second fight before landing on him and got outboxed and dropped by Rossy taking a controversial decision. Those are his 3 (4) best wins, and he didn't look great in any of those fights. Only tough.
I'd say Brewster. Brewster at his best was very durable and dangerous, if Brewster could come from behind vs Wlad I could see him catching Wilder when Wilder is trying to finish him off. Wilder could win if he just sat back, used his and jab and boxed, even his poor boxing skills are enough to outbox the much shorter Brewster. But Wilder doesn't fight that way, he'll be trying to KO Brewster and that's when he likely walks into a big punch from Brewster. I think Wilder is a better fighter than Brewster but style wise Brewster is a very dangerous fight for him. Brewster makes it a war of attrition and comes out on top.
This. Wilder has the dimensions and physicality to be a truly tremendous fighter ... but its like there's a 50 IQ brain to go with all his raw abilities that tells him "ya don't have to learn to move and jab or fight off the backfoot or throw combos. Just hit as hard as ya can and y'all will win."
Hogwash. Arroela was almost gone during the opening rounds in the rematch. He was then beaten to a pulp , stopped and was never the same again. Arroela had the prime beaten from him in those two fights - from first fight where he suffered bad facial damage and broken bones to the rematch where he was badly beaten up. Go watch fights before commenting on them. Arroela for those beatings was still a top 10 HW. That same Arrolea was as good if not better than Sam Peter.
watch the fight. Arreola was caught in the first and the final round, but was winning most rounds inbetween. This content is protected
