Quitting because Spence put a bit of heat on him.

Where's these threads questioning his heart?

You know, the same ones about Brook when he suffered two sight threatening injuries?
The first in which he was pulled out without his word?

Is ducking a fight when you have been called out by said fighter worse than quitting

It always looks worse when the fighter himself pulls the plug.

That said, there are sometimes subtle signals between a fighter and a coach that can disguise a mutual understanding. "You know me" (Peterson to Hunter) could be construed as one such signal.

As a Brook fan, I can't deny I felt a pang of disappointment when he took the knee, especially after that courageous fightback in the 10th, but I soon rationalized it. I never held it against Cotto when he took the knee in 2008, either. Neither was a Walters/Rigondeaux type of situation. The guys had pretty much given all they had.

Please. Spence was going to get brutally KTFO. Whats the point?

He is a disgrace because of his in right tactics. Just stood there and took the punishment. Frustrating as hell to watch.
A worthless night from PBC, who at one point had really good nights.

Hunter said "It isn't looking good"....to which Peterson replied "You know me....you make the decision".

    No arguing, just acceptance.

No difference to pulling the plug yourself imo.

Brook would have lost his sight against GGG.....

Brook would have lost his sight against Spence.....

Didn't stop US members calling him a disgrace and saying he has no heart.

I agree. As I alluded, I think it was an unspoken mutual decision between Hunter and his fighter that going out for the 7th would fulfil any obligation they felt to put in a shift. Peterson might have been more inclined to take a load off and recoup as much as possible instead of standing after the 6th and 7th, if he'd been focused on trying to hang in there and go down the stretch.

I probably didn't browse here that week, so I don't recall the extent or the volume of the negative sentiment toward Brook on ESB. Was it that harsh?

Doesn't matter if it's harsh! It was foolish to criticize Brook for stopping. The man jumped 2 divisions to fight arguably the most ducked fighter around, without a tune up. The man's orbital socket was broken! He made the right choice to stop!

    Wow you’re a real tw@t

Probably a bit harsh on my part and this may sound cliche but you’ve likely never been in that ring before, Lamont’s a proven warlord and has been through his own personal trial and tribulations that dispel your opinion of him. He was being utterly crushed in there and found it hard to accept another man could be so systematically dominant.
