In the days following the controversial decision of the brilliant "Fight of the Year" candidate between Amir Khan and Lamont Peterson, which took place this past Saturday, December 10th, in Washington DC, it was reported and announced by several different media outlets as well as Golden Boy Promotion's founder Oscar De La Hoya that a rematch had been set for a March 31st date in Las Vegas, NV.

According to the newly crowned IBF and WBA Junior Welterweight Champion, no deal as of yet has been made between either fighter and Golden Boy Promotions.

Although Golden Boy Promotions were the patrons of the December 10th event in the Capital City and are currently promoting Amir Khan's career, the new IBF and WBA Champ is operating independently and isn't obligated to answer to any promotional organization.

GBP and Amir Khan originally made Peterson an offer for a fight to be held in Great Britain back in April of this year, but the Washington DC resident felt that the cards were indeed too heavily stacked in the former champion's favor.

After Lamont defeated Victor Cayo on ESPN's Friday Night Fights on July 29th, the humble American fighter became the mandatory opponent to Khan's IBF title; giving Peterson more negotiating leverage.

After winning the IBF and WBA titles on Saturday night, Lamont now possesses the influence to dictate his own path.

Another option that is most intriguing to the DC native would be a possible unification bout with WBO Champion and Top Rank fighter Timothy Bradley.

A fight with the Palm Springs based fighter would be a return bout from their 2009 meeting. Peterson was dropped in the third round of the WBO title fight and eventually lost a wide unanimous decision to the "Desert Storm", which marks the only true blemish on the 27 year old boxer's resume.

The revenge factor is a definite motivator in the mind of Lamont Peterson.

One possible option that is too enticing to ignore would be a potential mega-bout with Pound for Pound fighter Floyd "Money" Mayweather, who is currently searching for an opponent suitable for a big May 5th PPV event.

Obviously, a highly publicized fight with Money Mayweather would result in the greatest personal gain for the 27 year old champion. But, if an agreement is made with Golden Boy Promotions to face Khan in a rematch on March 31st, this would more than likely eliminate Peterson from all possible consideration to participate in a May 5th event with Floyd Mayweather.

"Golden Boy can release whatever statement they want claiming that a deal has been made for a rematch, but nothing has been made yet and I am definitely free for any fight right now."

Although a return bout with Khan has not been finalized, Peterson welcomes the idea of a rematch and genuinely feels the former champion deserves one.

The current IBF and WBA Champion would like to warn Amir Khan to be careful for what he asks, because he just might get it.

If Khan said that Floyd would be his easiest fight, you'd be on his case like a little *****, but we all know the deal with you.

There's also a rumor that Spadafora was putting a beating on Floyd for 3 rounds.

    Spadafora > Floyd.

You know what I'm talking about, you double standard *****.

When Khan wanted Mayweather, you were constantly bashing him. Now Peterson wins and says this, you've just tried to defend him.

Hm, I wonder why... There's a certain pattern with your fighters. I wonder what it is. :think

No, you didn't. You were trying to defend the proposition of a potential fight between him and Floyd happening.
