This forum must stop acting like Matthyssee just knocked out an all time legend in his prime.

You aint lying, People want to pretend like Khan and put his shaky chinned ass on the mat twice, boxed his ears off, got 2 points taken away by cheating ref, and still only beat him by the skin of his teeth

Who did Peterson beat, i'll wait:patsch

Peterson is one of the top guys at 140 and no one has ever done that to him before. It was a great win.

A lot of ppl were predicting Peterson to win on this board though so its all fair game. But the knock out victory is way overrated. I wasn't able to watch live so I put it on DVR. When I read the forum I thought Lucas put Peterson to sleep in a KO of the yr type performance. I was very disappointed when I actually watched the fight compared to how ppl were talking on the forum.

No one has come close to beating Peterson the way Matthysse did. The hype is very well deserved.

If he's one of the 'best' at 140 that doesnt say much about the division.

It IS a great win. But to immediately call him the next Manny Pacquiao after a win over Lamont Peterson is ****ing hilarious.

Peterson has been dropped many times in fights. He has been dropped like 22 times in his last 9 fights or something like that. Peterson has been close to being stopped many times but usually found a way to fight out. But you can't keep playing with fire like that.

He was competitive with Bradley. He beat Ortiz, Cayo, Khan and Holt. (and then for a secondary line has Blain, Tyner, Brown...and tertiary, Major, Frankel, Castaneda, Mesquita, Toledo...)

Not a legend, but a guy with a very nice resume and head-to-head body of work.

This I agree with. Folks acting like Matthyssee just knocked out Tito Trinidad in his prime.

It's not like it's his first big win out of the blue. He's been around a few years doing damage, and just destroyed a top rated fighter with ease.

Top 4 @ 140 - Khan, Peterson, Garcia and Matthysse

Matthysse is likely about to KO Garcia and would almost defintly KO Khan

If Bradley comes down to 140 again then I might be reserved on whether Lucas could get the KO

Bieng the top guy in a division isn't overrated. Just now he has finally got his recognition which some casuals still deny saying Garcia would do him over...

Yep, Matthysse getting way more hype now for beating Peterson than for defeating who in my opinion is a far tougher challenge in Olusegun. I'm still a little shocked by the way Peterson was reacting to literally every punch Matthysse landed, but I'm trying not to be swayed by that and am hoping Danny vs Matthysse will show us where these two stand.

Peterson was getting hyped after his win over Holt and I didn't rate him as highly as most.

However, he was still one of the top in the division and Matthysse couldn't have won in a more convincing manner. People are doing u-turns now saying Peterson wasn't good to start with but many are just doing that to diss Matthysse. It was a good win and helps prove to more what has been obvious for a while to many, that Matthysse is the real deal
