This is unofficial, but I was at round 1 gym and his older cousin former prize fighter/ trainer named starchild said that Lamont can no longer make 140 easy and is moving up to 147.

What I wanna know is if that the new trend in boxing Lose and blame it on the weight, and move up. First it was Khan now Lamont. To be honest I just think both of them where out matched. I can see Paulie winning titles at 147 in italy, but Lamont winning at 147 in America I'm not sure.

Again this unofficial no sources other then his team saying so

What is he planning to do there? He couldn't handle one of the top 4 @ 140 and now he's looking at the division with the two biggest fishes in today's boxing:huh

I don't think it is a trend, fighters struggle to make weight and affects performance.

I know Lamont is tight at the weight so maybe that's why. But I think that with more seasoning he could possibly pick up a belt at 147.

He's actually a pretty good boxer, I think he simply fought the wrong fight versus Bradley. Maybe it's a matter of mental toughness with him(which I don't question he lacks, but maybe)? I thought if Lamont would have forced a boxing match rather then fighting the way he did, the outcome could have gone either way.

I envision Lamont may have a tough time coming back to the top of the division at 140.. Lamont at his best I feel would be a tough match up for any of the divisions top. Lamont is a good win for Bradley

Its always been thus man...Mosely and DLH both moved to 154 after they got beat....Pavliks moving to either 168-175. Taylor moved to 168 after Pavlik beat his ass...its a built in excuse in my opinion, but makes sense career wise. Peterson probably knows he can't beat the elite at 140...Bradley already beat his ass. Might as well move to 147 where at least there are some big name opponents to fight.

I think he'd give anyone outside of Pac, May and Berto a tough fight. just because he lost to Bradley I wouldn't count him out and I could see him decisioning Zaveck or Senchenko.

Khan looks huge at 140 so probably he was draining himself at 135

Dude, Khan is 5'10" and he was 20/21 when he fought at 135.
OF COURSE he was going to move up in weight. It only makes sense.

He would have to starve himself at this stage to make 135.

In fact,I wouldnt be at all surprised if he fights as couple of big fights at 140.Maybe unifies the divisio and move up to 147. He'd still be pretty tall for welter.

Interesting move, 140 is deep and 147 is starting to thin out so he might have some success there. After a fight or two to get acclimated with the weight I'd like to see him in with Mike Jones or Antwoine Smith. Good young fighters facing off.

Its true that these days, fighters lose and immediately change division. Jermain Talyor, Kelly Pavlik, Edison Miranda, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito and much much more. Watch Clottey fight his next one at 154.

I find it plausible enough. I'd also give him a good shot against Berto. But what are you talking about Paulie in Italy? You're not talking about Malignaggi are you? If you are, you know he's American, right?

His team was saying that when he returns at welter he might go for the Italian and European titles as he has dual citizenship.
