Just saw this fight scheduled for April 25 at Coliseo RR in Bayamon, PR. It seems, it'll be a support bout for JM Lopez - Gerry Penalosa showdown. Two unbeaten fighters in a battle for WBO interim light welterweight title. Willy Blain http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=281042&cat=boxer Lamont Peterson http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=272077&cat=boxer I saw Blain several time and wasn't impressed at all. The guy isn't speedy and he lacks even average power in his hands. Peterson, on the other hand, hardly is a puncher himself but he looked great in outpointing several good opponents lately. I intend to go with him with a convincing UD. Say, 116-112, 117-111, 118-110. It's a bad match-up however.
This wont be an exciting fight...I tend to agree that Blain is very flashy but all for nothing really. Doesnt look like a 12 round fighter to me either, lacks the physically strength and power to succeed at the top level because there literally seems like no concussive power in his shots most of the time. I dont really know who to pick though...Ive seen quite a big of Anthony but only 2 fights and some clips of Lamont. Ill say Lamont takes it on points aswell.
Blain??? never even heard of him......and wtf? 3 KOZ?!?!!!, and i thought Paulie was featherfisted but who know's maybe it's deceving...plus he is a southpaw, so that might give Lamont something to think about but Lamont'll probabbly take this, just a blind guess though since i know nothing of this kid, and apparently he's the #1 LWW in France but.......still, Lamont needs to step of the competition B- and B class opposition (assuming he's not), he's not gonna grow as fighter by fighting bums
I only remember Blain from the Olympics. My memory tells me he was a pure boxer with little power and lots of movement. Peterson should be able to walk through him and get a late stoppage or UD.
