Peterson just struggled mightily against Avanesyan who nobody but the shitty WBA considers top 10 let alone a champion. Peterson is not on Thurman's level. Is he going to do better than Porter pressing Thurman? Nope, he's not as quick. Thurman is just going to catch him coming in and hurt him. He did well pressing Garcia but that's more due to Garcia being flat-footed and having a static upper body. There's nothing Peterson will do to Thurman he hasn't already overcome.

It would be a good scalp for Thurman. Garcia is a pretty limited boxer that went above and beyond his natural ability to become a two division champ. We will see Garcia lose, and often, now that they can't afford to buy off all of the judges (seriously, who buys only one judge and lets the other two be objective?)

Where do you guys come up with this stuff at? Lamont struggled mightily? Really? What match were you watching?

Peterson won 116-112 maybe even 118-110 if being harsh, the match wasn't even competitive.

No I doubt it. He will be competitive, but will lose a decision.

Just because lucas KO'd Peterson at 140, doesn't mean Thurman could get it done at 147... Two totally different fights.

I have been very disappointed in Thurman in his last two fights................the Garcia fight was boring, Thurman did not show his power, it could have been a draw as far as I am concerned. Thurman just ran the last two rounds, he couldn't hit Garcia much, did not damage to him at all............I don't like Garcia, but that was a disappointment...........................thought Thurman lost to Porter...............

Was gonna say the same thing.

Apparently I'm crazy, but I don't think Lamont is a "good" matchup for Thurman. I think it's a good matchup for us fans. Not saying I would pick Lamont over him, but I think stylistically Lamont is trouble for Thurman.

The judges scored it 116-112 twice and 115-113. You can win 8-4 and still have the rounds be competitive. Basically all recaps and reviews of the fights acknowledge that it was indeed competitive.

In any case, layoff or no, the performance didn't inspire any confidence as to a potential match with Thurman.

No he didn't, Peterson kicked Danny's ass but Garcia was gifted the decision.

Peterson didn't win 7 rounds though. He frustrated Garcia for the first six rounds with movement but couldn't establish the jab and got nothing going himself. Garcia was landing body shots here and there taking the rounds. Then when Peterson came forward he won some rounds, 4 or 5, but all of them? No chance. Peterson didn't win the fight.

Danny Garcia looked the best he ever has vs Thurman so I don't like this comparison at all. Thurman is also better than Peterson, but a lot of that also depends on how they both chose to fight this potential matchup. I would heavily favor Thurman.
