Figure since it's my first night posting on here i'll see what you guys think of a guy i really like. Lamont peterson, fighting willy blaine,20-0, don't know much about him but the record makes it look like a bit of a test at least. think lamont's got a future?
I do, both Petersons a very athletic and have good fundemental skills. Anthony seems to hit a little harder but LaMont is very affective. I'm looking foreward to seeing them in high profile fights.
Good topic champ! Its about time someone posted and showed the respect to the brothers that deserve it. I've been friends with both of these guys since they were in the amateurs and they both are very hard working guys. I know they haven't been fully tested, but now is the time where you will see them getting the big fights that will excel them to where they should be, top of the welterweight and light welterweight divisions! i agree, both of the petersons are tough. and i am impressed that they have both stepped up the level of competition consistently...bringing their skills along nicely with each test. anthony does seem to have more pop in his mitts. anthony looked really good, assertive, confident, comfortable in his last fight against javier jauregui who took just about every power shot anthony could throw square in the noggin. peterson's power was there, but, it seemed, so was jauregui's concrete head. i was dually impressed that peterson just kept his shoulder to the wheel and didn't get anxious enough to take unneccessary risks trying to put his guy down. though anthony is the harder puncher, i think that lamont has a slight speed advantage and really moves more in a more fluid way, always shifting his weight properly as he moves, keeping the body swaying defensively in circles away from target zones as he moves in retreat...a good technical boxer that, if he keeps progressing along the same lines will be an excellent technical boxer within a few years. despite the low blows and subsequent point deduction that demonstrated a little greenness in placing punches against a tricky, persistent opponent, i thought peterson looked excellent against the tough leonardo tyner whose career is on the rocks right now, but who i expect to see back in the mix soon.
