The one thing that holds Lamont back is his lack of power. By the mid-rounds you already knew he lost and wasn't going to make some dramatic comeback. The kid is tough though. I wasn't very thriilled with his gameplan. I was surprised to see him chase Bradley around. I thought it was going to be the other way around. He fights like he's confused. He has the boxing ability and the jab but he chooses to come inside and bang. Against Bradley? What was he thinking? He never showed the ability to adjust either.. but then again Bradley is a tough matchup for anyone.
I think his inability to adapt is partially attributable to the fact that Bradley was such a step up in competition. That said he established himself as a capable contender tonight, and I'd like to see him maybe fight someone like Herman Ngoudjo in a crossroads duel.
Little too early in Peterson's development for a guy like Bradley. Bradley may be the most underrated guy under 154 lbs.
Inexperience contributed to Peterson's loss greatly tonight. From now on he should be matched tougher and who knows? Maybe we'll see him in another title fight soon.
When Bradley changed up Peterson couldn't adjust at all. Lamont needs to gain more experience which showed tonight. I still believe he will be a good fighter in due time, but he just wasn't ready for this fight. Congrats to Bradley.
I agree with JR for I think the first time ever. Peterson was taken out of his fight, and forced to fight a style in which he was comfortable. Bradley turned him into a slugger when he is at his best while being a counter puncher.
I gave Bradley every round. Bradley was being treated like an Euro by the powers that be in boxing, they wanted Peterson to win, but Bradley fooled them. He looked better than I have ever seen him fight. I think he was at his peak tonight. Really impressive. I enjoyed that fight.
Peterson came in with a strong gameplan but failed. He figured being in Bradley's hometown he would come out the agressor, to get a couple of rounds under his belt so that he would be able to box later in the fight. It just so happened that Timothy Bradley is the WRONG guy to trade with. He was slick, he was fast, he moved well, he landed crisply and in bunches...really impressive. At that point Peterson being down on points early was forced to engage and thats when Timothy just began dazzling. Moving, countering, forcing Peterson out of his gameplan. Peterson who wanted to use his quick jab to counter and fight on the outside ended up leading and trying to get inside. Great fight for Timothy, far and away the best 140lber in the world
agreed, I'm not sure there is anyone at 140 capable at beating him...time soon he enters p4p discussions
