By all accounts, Marshall got off to a big lead over the first two-thirds of the fight and LaMotta came on toward the end. How big of a margin Marshall had (or should've had) varies depending on the report, but that seems to be the consensus description of the fight. I've also read that the decision was unpopular with some in the crowd, but that that was probably more the result of emotion and LaMotta's closing rally rather than an accurate reflection of the fight.
Lloyd built up an early lead...apparantly looked very impressive doing so. Jake came on hard in the last two rounds but it wasnt enough. Lamotta claimed he injured his left knuckle during this bout.
I wonder if the result would have been different in a 15 round bout. It would have been a lot closer atleast. http://news.google.com/newspapers?i...EAAAAIBAJ&dq=lamotta marshall&pg=5606,5480916
I have the Cleveland Plain Dealers account of this fight. Rounds 2-9 were Lloyds by a country mile. You get a sense of Lloyd so far ahead and conceding round 10 to Jake. The crowd was fairly well packed with Jakes Cleveland Pisano contingent and the final decision was met with some audible booing from them.
