I think Hopkins would edge Jake in an ugly fight. I think Hopkins would be able to land some nice combos (wouldn't budge Jake an inch) and basically just outscore him. Jake would be forcing Hopkins to work hard for every moment of every round, but a prime Bernard was able to do that for the entire fight, and I'd imagine he could do it over 15 rounds.

I like Hopkins to control the early rounds with his boxing ability, but LaMotta intensifies his attack over the course of the bout. His unrelenting aggression just may wear X out. It would still be a close one. I take LaMotta on points.

Hopkins was better, and I'm a LaMotta fan.

Did you ever see a tired prime Hopkins? Did you ever see Hopkins in anything but perfect condition? Sorry, I can´t see no fighter wearing Hopkins out over 12 or 15 rounds.

Did Hopkins at any point in his career face off against a guy with this kind of tenacity and punch output? Hopkins was never tested like this.

He's fought at a similar pace to Jake did. Calzaghe throws more punches than Lamotta and many thought Hopkins won that at the age of 43. Boxers outputs tend to slow against Hops too

I think Hopkins has nearly every advantage and wins a clear decision ...

True, doesn´t change the fact that he came never near beeing tired and that nobody ever came near wearing him down. So, saying a fighter would do that is far too much speculation, even when it´s LaMotta.
