I think McCallum has the skills to win, which means his shots score points and get him a decision, not a stoppage, no matter how much meat.

LaMotta by UD. McCallum didn't have the legs to keep him off, nor the style. He'd oblige in an inside fight, and most certainly lose.

No matter who you match him up against, LaMotta is one imposing obstacle, and I feel that nearly any middle who would have had a chance of beating him would have been wise to go the route of boxing and finessing him rather than by going toe to toe and getting into a macho slugguing match. I fell that McCallum would have been able to win a deciaion by being smart and boxing Jake. For a real war, you'd have a matchup between Jake and Dick Tiger..maybe the only guy who could have met him head on. Even Gene Fullmer would have probably fought him the way he did against Basilio..

I could envision them splitting a series with either man coming out on top. Close fight IMO. I like McCallum very much but find myself leaning towards LaMotta here.

Lamotta. I think McCallum, though an excellent fighter, does not have the tools to beat the Raging Bull at his focused peak.
