LaMotta vs. Valdez

    Watch more film of a prime Lamotta.

    I like Jake by close decision in an exciting battle, I just think Lamotta is too much of a freak for Valdes.

    You're talking about the fight where Valdez KO'd Briscoe? I'd have to disagree there. I thought Valdez mostly just pawed and pushed with his jab, and allowed Briscoe to get in on him repeatedly and work over his body. I also thought he was looking a bit weary and ragged by the time he landed that desperation combo that KO'd Briscoe. If that was LaMotta in there in place of Briscoe, I think he would've outhustled/bullied Valdez to a points win.

    Having said that, I think the Valdez that outboxed Briscoe in their third fight would've had a better chance. He showed improved movement and defense and did a better job at keeping the fight in center ring. I don't know if he would've had the discipline to keep that up for an entire fight against LaMotta, but at least I think he would've given him a better fight.
