Dawson did called out Calzaghe, Hopkins, Kessler and some others. But don't know what happened after that. Edit: sorry I thought it said Dawson.
calzaghe was gonna fight him in 2004. he got injured. according to his book it was a nasty back spasm in training. :-( so the date got cancelled and johnson got the roy jones fight offer in the meantime. so the fight was dead for the time being. johnson was gonna be the opponent again in 2006 at cardiff stadium. calzaghe had a hand injury and the fight got scrapped. calzaghe fought bika that autumn.
Lampley- Isn't that right Emmanuel? Emmanuel Steward- Yes Jim, Joe Calzakkay ducked Glen Johnson it. Lampley- Joe wha? Steward- Joe Calsaggy.
Johnson would of lost anyways.... so it dont make much of a difference. this isnt a important duck, like bowe - lewis was.
also the 2006 fight wasn't signed and sealed i don't think. johnson was just strongly rumoured and then joe had to pull out on the hand injury. the 2004 fight was signed and sealed. u could argue johnson ducked it by going elsewhere. :hey of course roy jones was a bigger name back then. still is tbh. :yep
The man from Del Monte told Joe not to face the man who left a shot RJJ twitching on the canvas. A couple years later Joe raised his courage and faced a shot RJJ. Not too hard to know that Joe would have had a life and death struggle with Glen at best and may well have lost.
The whole HBO crew disappointed me tonight, and I don't think I've said that too many times because I do like those guys, any faults I perceive aside. They said a lot of absurd things tonight. It was a poor performance for commentators, that's for sure.
Fights happen in the ring and not on paper. On paper everyone said that Jones would kill Johnson but it didnt happen like that. Calzaghe shamelessly ducked Johnson. BoomBoom it was a topic of many posts when it happened, but do to the fact that no one could debate the fact very few bother to mention it anymore.
