Lampley: Manny pacquaio's following has become irrational"

I always thought Pac was great just didn't like the top 5 atg nonsense. Here's a quote by Kellerman that I don't agree with.

Max Kellerman: "No matter how great a fighter and how great his resume, the way a guy looks as good as pacquiao, is always a result of good matchmaking, not to diminish pacquiao's accomplishments, but he's been matched very well against big but usually aging or faded fighters. The last time he fought a great fighter in or around that fighter's mind, was Juan Manuel Marquez..."

    Irrational pac fans = *******s

There has been a lot of fight picking. Thats what happens when you are the cash cow. Same with floyd and others. To get there pac won a lot of good fights

Outside of the Mosley fight, I seriously doubt that if you go back and watch the broadcasts that Kellerman had any issues with Oscar,Hatton,Cotto,Clottey and Margarito as opponents.

Easy to be the expert in hindsight.

I dont get why they need to discredit him this much, even if they feel marquez won or dislike *******s then why discredit his achievements while nobody gave him a shot at getting there a few years ago, now in hindsight they change their opinions like it was all easy and expected.

Lampley is a big fan of Pacquaio's 'bang bang' style of Boxing.

I disagree with Kellerman, arguments could be made that :

Oscar De La Hoya was too low down in weight, and little more than a part time fighter.

Ricky Hatton was at the end of the road, and had troubles with Sr in camp.

Miguel Cotto wasn't the same fighter as before Antonio Margarito and had an awful head trainer who was in way over his head.

Joshua Clottey didn't have his regular trainer, and suffered from a 'dodgy stomach'

Margarito had returned from a long lay off and looked average beating a bum in Mexico.

Mosely was finished, Floyd had boxed his ears off and he'd then drew with Sergio Mora.

Of these, I'd argue that Cotto and Margarito are legit wins. Cotto was in decent shape and the failings of his corner is Miguels fault for choosing comfort over experiance. Margarito came to fight and was in great shape, if he wasn't, he wouldn't of been able to take all those shots.

The rest all have if's and buts.

I'd give Oscar a pass for being shot but I can pull up TONS of threads with people picking Hatton to beat the crap out of Pacquiao and now he "was at the end of the road"

I picked Pacquaio to UD Hatton, never expected the violent KO though.

I watched the Lazcano fight where he hurt Hatton, and thought something was different, they blamed a chest infection but it was more than that.
Then he fought Paulie Mallignagi, and we all know the kid can't break an egg (he also had gotten away from his own style by pairing up with Buddy) and Hatton won convincingly, but it wasn't a great performance.

Final clue for me, if you watch the 24/7 episode where Hatton Spars with Cornellius Lock, who's trained by uncle Roger, you'll see Rogers face during Hatton's sparring, it's like 'This Hatton is in SO much trouble:-('
We also heard the rumors of Lara beating Hatton up in sparring.

You're right though, plenty favoured Hatton due to him being the physically stronger guy.
