I actually don't remember DLH landing his left hook on Floyd at all and his hook is far superior to Mosley's.

    Excellent blueprint.

It will be interesting if Mosely outworks Floyd over the first four rounds and forces Mayweather to get more agressive.

The biggest key is whether or not Mayweather can bother Mosely with his punch. If he can't Mosely has a shot, if he does, it's going to be a long boring night and a win for Floyd.

Can people cease perpetuating this myth that DLH could have beaten Floyd if he didn't stop jabbing? Floyd took the punch away, DLH didn't just switch up his strategy mid-way.

But yeah, the jab is imperative in this fight. I'm a huge, huge Floyd fan and have the utmost respect for his abilities. But I think since moving up and the development of his brittle hands he is imminently beatable. If Shane can avoid walking on to the straight right hand for 12 rounds Floyd will be in a world of trouble.

Floyd really only has two ways to hurt you - one being the left lead hook and the other the straight right. Outside of this and if you apply careful and sporadic pressure, minimizing chances for him to counter you, he really has trouble creating offensive openings. The counter is his best shot at hurting you. You can see against DLH he was having trouble attacking, and when he tried to finish off Marquez for about 12 seconds after the KD he gave JMM his best stint in the fight.

However, IMO what Shane is lacking that will be the end of him, is footspeed. Handspeed is not as important as footspeed in this matchup because Shane won't be able to show the hand is he can't use the foot to get in range before Floyd pots and ties him up. Hatton had the footspeed which is why he was able to give him moderate trouble. Shane doesn't. Pac does though, and the hand speed, and the head movement, and the chin. That's why Pac beats him. Shane? I don't know -- it's possible.

Left hook is NOT the punch to throw...it's not even the straight right.

It has to be the OVERHAND right. It comes in at the angle where Floyd doesn't block his face in his philly shell and even if he tried to step back Mosley's got the reach to extend it and make the connect.

If you watch the Marquez fight one of the few punches that he landed on several occasions was the overhand right. Not sure what round but JMM landed a solid overhand right and then Floyd taunted him to do it again...had that been Shane's punch Floyd would've been on ***** street.

This would also be why Southpaws typically land their awkward overhand lefts on Floyd because it lands in the same spot. Chop chop hurt Floyd with that punch and Shane has a GREAT overhand right, but timing it is gonna be a *****.

a straight left will hit floyds face. a left hook will probably connects but it will hit most of the gloves of floyd.

Good call on the overhand right. Marquez landed a huge overhand right.....but 8 seconds later Floyd put him on his ass.

Floyd doesnt like to brawl but if you clip him he comesback in a nasty way.

    Jab, no doubt about it.

A prime Shane, who throws 3 to 4 jabs at a time, would have an easier time.

Good post. I personally see Mosley having trouble finding Floyd with any punch he throws; therefore, imo, his best chances of landing is to focus his attack on Floyd's body. Effective body work would subsequently slow the faster, quicker, and better reflexes of Floyd down which would (in theory) make it easier to land something big upstairs; perhaps the overhand right.

This is the same punch Lampley uses on his wife. The man knows what he's talking about.

The same overhand right that landed in the Cotto fight numerous times ... with Cotto not on ***** street. When the **** have you even seen Floyd buzzed by a shot lately..lol. He has been hit. Shane's overhand right is predictable and not accurate. As a matter of fact, he only landed it regularly on Margarito and a few on Cotto. Both have **** defense.
