I broadly agree with your analysis Johnson certainly avoided Langford,the offer from the NSC was derisory however, and after 1910 ,Johnson was never in shape to do himself justice against such a dangerous foe as Langford, who given that he hated Johnson ,would certainly have been up for the fight and in shape.

As you say Johnson could get the same kind of cash fighting the likes of O Brien, and Flynn, and he would not have to flog himself to get in shape for such fights.

I agree with this statement one hundred and ten percent. I think that Langford was a better fighter than Johnson but that Johnson would have always been a bad stylistic matchup for him. That being said. There is no denying that Johnson actively ducked Langford.

GTF out of here! You've claimed Langford was never deserving of a shot for the title against Johnson and there would have been no money in it in spite of numerous offers from promoters overseas. :nono

Clips like these intill contemporary reporters with a renewed integrity. You no longer have to convince yourself that Jeanette 'moved well' after viewing the footage; he could glide with his jab and possessed a sneaky right hand.

Langford's power was really something but his ability to anticipate blows with an easy parry or side-step gives credence to the claims of his uncanny radar.
