Langford on facing Jeannette n Johnson

Langford deserved a shot. People at the time were looking for the best possible challengers to Johnson.
Realistically, it makes sense to figure Johnson would be well capable of beating him, and in a similar fashion as he had before. That doesn't contradict that Langford deserved to be rated as the leading challenger/'the major threat'.

Thomas Hearns was rated as #1 challenger and threat to Marvin Hagler in 1986, just a year after Hagler had destroyed him.
Some people still believe that too.
Realistically, it makes more sense to figure Hagler beats Hearns at any stage.

 

Langford's best fighting weight was probably 168 pounds, or not much more than that. He was only 5'7.
At 195 or 200 pounds he was probably hog fat.

 

Langford was five foot six and a half inches tall, and,in 1911 weighed between 170-180lbs. Johnson was scaling between 208- 212lbs by then. Langford was often out of shape and overweight, that is why I said him being in top condition was definitely not a given.
I'd say Langford's best weight ,given his height, and muscular development ,would be around 175lbs.

Also, if Johnson had contained his style of fighting so thoroughly when they fought, there would have to be some dramatic stylistic adaptation on Langford's part.
I don't know if "he improved, and had beat more heavyweights" would cover it.
Sure, the guy was very good, powerful and an intelligent fighter, but Johnson was generally rated as the cleverest fighter - so I can't see how Johnson would not remain one step ahead of him.

You do not know how much Jeannette weighed in that photo. Box Rec reports Jeannette was 184.5 pounds in one of his key matches in 1914. Jeannette said he was in the under the super middle weight limit when he last meet Johnson! You have no proof to the contrary. None. Nada, Zilch, so deal with it. Johnson lost to two super middles when he had more experience and was the bigger man.

Do you really believe that? Quick summary, I asked him to pick a ring many times, he never did. I asked for his email. he knew why. He declined. Mcvey did not post for 3 months when talks heated up and I asked for his email. He went dark. He was in hiding or using another name to post. Several months after the fact, he claims he had some sort of surgery to explain why he did not post for 3+ months. Those are the facts. The old man can lie and reply all he wants. 1.Johnson fouled Jeannette on purpose,or ,[as you put it unpurpose]

2. Johnson sustained cracked ribs against Burns.


3.Burns had jaundice when he met or,[ as you persist in saying, meet] Johnson.

4. Langford or, as you call him SANGFROID,[surely the best howler you have yet produced]:rofl Knocked Johnson down.

5.Langford/Sangfroid only weighed 138 lbs, when he met/meet Johnson.


6.The Johnson v Battling JIm Johnson fight was scheduled for 20rds ,and was cut short to save Johnson's title.

7.. The French Boxing Federation withdrew recognition of Johnson's title because of the unsatisfactory ending of his fight with Battling Jim.

8.. Johnson intentionally fouled Jeannette to avoid losing

9... Johnson only knocked Langford/Sangfroid down once


That's nine to be going on with, if you have the time to post here, you have the time to admit you are completely and totally wrong on these statements. And, the very fact that you continue to state them
indicates they are intentional lies on your part.
