Good stuff Janitor. As always most of the new and or interesting things I learn on here are from you.

I think Langford had a damned good chin. Top tier for sure. I just don't feel it was a Jeffries or Greb level chin...

    Thankyou.

We will never know exactly when comparing fighters of this era. There are too many variables.

I will say in general terms that Langford had an exceptional chin.

How much do you feel his great chin was due to skill and savvy, rather then a Tex Cobb or a Oliver McCall chin?

It is verry hard to say.

Given the ridiculous number of fights Sam had against big punchers (one this week one next week), I am inclined to think that his chin must have been outstanding.

In the context of this thread I would bet nothing on Tyson blasting him out early.

Tyson failed to annihilate several rock chinned heavies as well.

The best chins he ever fought stood up. Green, Tucker, Holyfield.

Even Ribalta kept getting up. Tough guy, but eh'.

LOL, but they were not 180 pound guys,,,,,,,,,,,coming straight at you . They clinched and clinched and did some more holding aka surving otherwise they would have most likely hit the mat. Even when Holy did eventually get to fight the severely watered down version of Tyson he held /clinched to the max until the latter rounds when Tyson got tired and Holy finally got brave.

You simply cannot fight Tyson toe to toe, he is way to fast, when focused/trained elusive and hits you with shots you never see coming and as we all know those hurt/ko you the most. There are formulas or attempted formulas to beat him but toe to toe with a undersized guy is suicide.

Tyson hit Green hit hard to smash several teeth out of his mouth.

    Mitch wasn't going anywhere.

Yeah , because he went right back to holding/surviving not winning or attempting to win tit for tat he would have been put to sleep, why ndo you think he went into survival mode, lack of punching power, lol,...............and maybe you can be bothered to look up Green's size in relation to Langford, they are not even in the same zipcode. I have met Green and he is one big MOfo plus he ain't fat.

Now , put those Langford wintermittens on Tyson, today you would have a hard time getting the fight sactioned.
